Top 15 QBs From Fantasy Sports Magazine
We're wrapping up our first football issue of the year and we wanted to share some of our rankings and analysis. Starting today and continuing next week, we'll post our Top 15 players at each position (Top 10 for kickers and defenses). We'll also add some comments about where these players went in the three drafts we held for our first issue. As always, your comments are welcome.
Here are the quarterbacks:
1. Drew Brees
2. Peyton Manning
3. Tom Brady
4. Aaron Rodgers
5. Kurt Warner
6. Philip Rivers
7. Tony Romo
8. Donovan McNabb
9. Jay Cutler
10. Matt Ryan
11. Matt Schaub
12. Carson Palmer
13. Ben Roethlisberger
14. Matt Cassel
15. Matt Hasselbeck
COMMENTS: Brees went first in all three of our drafts. Peyton went second in one while Brady went second in the other two. They appear to be the Top 3 QBs who will be taken this year although Warner was taken third in one of the drafts (Brady went fourth in that one). Warner went third, fourth and eighth in the three drafts while Rodgers went eighth, seventh, sixth and Rivers went sixth, fifth and fourth. Romo went seventh, sixth, fifth, McNabb went ninth, eighth, seventh and Cutler went eighth, ninth and ninth.
Those players appear to be the first nine QBs who will be taken this year. After that, it's going to be a shootout. Three different QBs went 10th in our drafts. They were - Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub and Carson Palmer.
My own belief is the first 10 QBs on our rankings are the ones I'd be comfortable with as my QB1. After that, it will be a roll of the dice if you're going to play QBBC. So if I saw the QBs going off the board quickly, I would likely feel compelled to grab one of those 10 to make sure I got one I felt comfortable with.
Thoughts?

THE ONLY ONE I QUESTION IS CUTLER. WE WILL FIND OUT THIS YEAR HOW GOOD CUTLER IS WITHOUT MARSHALL AND ROYAL.
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RECEIVERS THERE HE IS THIS YEAR HASSELBECK TO ME.
I KNOW YOU WERE HIGH ON MATT LAST YEAR TOM BUT I THOUGHT HE WOULD STRUGGLE WITHOUT RECEIVERS.
EVEN IF HE DIDN'T GET INJURED HIS NUMBERS WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN WAY DOWN. I FEEL THE SAME WAY THIS YEAR ABOUT CUTLER.

I think adding Housh is huge for the Seahawks. I'm not entirely comfortable with Hasselbeck but the talent at QB is pretty bad again this year in my opinion. There isn't a lot after the Top 10 that I really like. I think Hasselbeck has as good of a chance as any of the others to do well if he's healthy. That's the key - is he healthy and can he stay healthy? If he can, having Housh will be huge (plus Carlson's a good TE) and they'll have to throw it a ton because they have no running game.

THIS YEAR'S OUT LOOK IN MY OPINION IS BETTER THAN LAST YEAR'S FOR HIM.
WHAT KIND OF NUMBERS DO YOU EXPECT FROM CUTLER THIS YEAR?

I think the outlook is better but I'm concerned about how healthy he can be.
As far as Cutler we're projecting around 3,500 yards passing and 23 TDs. I'd say that's his ceiling for touchdowns. It may end up around 20.

Nice list.
Until Homer Simpson takes over in round 4.
Is Rodgers really the 4th best QB in Wisconsin?
He probably couldn't get a job cookin' McRibbs if he lived in MO.
Maybe we could work him in as Warner's pool boy.
Have his peeps tweet my peeps.

Rodgers was second in the NFFC in average points per game among QBs last season. He was also second among QBs in standard scoring leagues. You could make a strong argument that ranking him 4th is too low.

Probably.
But it wouldn't be nearly as fun.

I'd actually like to see someone make a strong argument for ranking Rodgers No. 2. I think that would be great.

Picking Warner that high is just plain silly
Not saying he won't post big numbers but he is a year older and never been an iron man so the injury risk is too high for me. His ceiling has to be the same as last year at the most.
So why not wait 5 rounds take Schaub who avg less then 2 per game less then Warner and IMO is less likely to get hurt and possibly could score more pts...
If you plan on winning leagues this year keep taking Warner early out of your plans
