Potential Scoring Change

Wow, three days in Manhattan for meetings and I return to this nine-page thread. Guess I'll have to set time aside to read the whole thing.

Quickly: Why would any league like the NFFC set a scoring deadline? Because owners want closure on the h2h games and setting a scoring change deadline does that. Some leagues or commissioner products finalize stats on Tuesday, others later. Yes, the WCOFF has a Friday deadline which obviously Nag and 4D are very familiar with and like. And outcomes likely have changed for owners on Thursday and Friday in the WCOFF, and in one happening because of a scoring error, a h2h result was changed on the following Sunday. It happens.

I've opted to have closure on Wednesday as it was discussed with STATS and agreed upon based on past history. If Elias has made more scoring changes after Wednesday at noon this year than in years past, then it's obviously something to look into. But we're not seeing instances of TDs being reversed and catches being given to the wrong players. With live scorers at every game and video to watch immediately afterwards, it's almost inconceivable that Elias needs to take more than a day after the game to get the final stats correct.

The scoring deadline is set for 2007 on Wednesday at noon and will remain that way. We can look at that rule like we do with any rule change for 2008 and beyond and decide if it needs to be altered. Of course we're open to suggestions to improve the game, but contrary to the loud opinions here, not everyone is in favor of an open window for Elias to get it right.

Carry on. I've got a lot of reading to do.

What we ARE familiar with and like is when statistics applied to our/everyone's FF teams are accurate and correct. Thanks, carry on.

"carry on"..lol. omg.. last word. Scoring deadlines should be implemented.. Greg, i was one of those guys in the WCOFF this year who had my game changed, not wed, not thu, not frid, but sat of the following week, cost me a game head to head and (may have cost me money in the grand scheme of things).. nothing worse thinking you won for a friggin week then to find out a week or 2 later that you lost.. thats ridiculous. wednesday is good. Given the situation resulting from the change was not exactly like what is being discussed and the WCOFF did act very responsibly in listening to my appeal .however if your on short end of the stick then get the stats company to change it before then nationwide!!!

Please show me one post in this entire thread where I have said the deadline should be Firday or that I like that day? Or any day, for that matter? What I pointed out was that your rules were anything but clear, despite Tom's instance, regarding the deadline. I didn't write them, you did. I just happened to catch it.

Of course that's now been swept aside as a "typo." Being that you and Tom are so adamant that your deadline is Wednesday I would assume so simple a mistake would have been caught. And I still haven't gotten an answer to my question as to what other "typos" we might expect going forward. Thanks

4D, mistakes happen. As much time and effort Greg and I put into this event the reality is we're human beings and sometimes mistakes happen. When mistakes do happen, the key is to clarify what should occur and what the rule is - which I clearly did in this instance. You're free to question our rules and offer suggestions and you're even free to continue to take shots at Greg and myself as you have done repeatedly in this thread. We're both big boys and we can take it. But the bottom line here is there is a rule in place and Greg and I have both been quite emphatic about what the rule is. There is no confusion nor should there be but allow me to state what I have stated several times and what Greg has reiterated:

The deadline is Wednesday.

That's the rule. It's clear and it's concise and it isn't going to be changed this season.

Now if you or Alex or anyone else would like to bring worthy suggestions to us as to possibly changing this rule or any other we will listen as we always do.

Greg/Tom: I wish the boards could get back to talking football and not the continued negative light that a select few are trying to cast on Greg and yourself. Has any of them called you or greg to discuss?

this is really hurting the MB in my opinion.
Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

Nobody has called me. I'm not sure if anyone has called Greg.

The bottom line is Greg and I encourage discussion about our event and we realize there will be times when people are unhappy. That's par for the course. And as I said before, we're both big boys and we can take it if folks want to take their shots at us. As always, we welcome worthy suggestions and comments about how we can improve our event going forward. As I stated the other day, the most significant changes we've made have been as a result of opinions brought forth on these boards. So it's quite clear - or it should be - that Greg and I both listen to what you guys have to say and give it serious consideration.

We want this event to be one that you guys love and want to continue to do in the years to come while continuing to grow it and expand it and bring in hundreds of new people as well. One of the best ways for us to do that is to ask for feedback and implement the strongest ideas and suggestions. We've done that from Day 1 and will continue to do that going forward.
