Increasing # of RBs
Okay, we've discussed the numbers. Not enough RBs to go around. This week my league started such notables as:
Richie Anderson (who starts EVERY week for Liquid)
Duce Staley - OUT (only other RB was on a bye)
Kevin Faulk
Lamont Jordan
Mike Cloud
Steven Jackson
How about if we included Kick Return yards as a category. This would deepen the pool of usable RBs. Only some teams use a RB for Kick Returns, but we only need to add another 5 or 6 RBs to the mix to have enough RBs for every team to field somebody on bye weeks who could at least score more than 4 points. I'm thinking that something like 1 point for 15 yards would be fair.
As the scoring stands now, nobody gets credit for Kick Return yards. TDs go to the D/ST but yardage, which can be critical in the real world, goes unrewarded.

I'm not on the same page with you on this topic. Seems like another idea to try to allow everyone an equal # of RB's. This is never going to happen because of the # of teams per league. It doesn't even work in 12 team leagues. The NFFC scoring is set up to force people to make choices.
Those who aren't able to secure good enough RB's can build a good team around a top QB and WR's.
Believe me, I feel the pain of RB deficiency. I have all year long. Just like you I had to take Wheatley in the 4th and have been scrambling to get points at this position. My other opening day RB's were Dayne,Fargas and Pittman. That's it. I've tried about 4 different F/A's with only M.Moore giving some temporary help. Now I've been without R.Moss for 3 straight weeks. I'm currently tied for 1st with 3 other teams 7th in overall points with Manning still to go. If this team somehow makes the playoffs, the last thing I'm going to do is feel sorry for someone who had to start any of the RB's mentioned in your post. I would've given anything to even have those options.
Isn't it funny how few STUD RB owners are among the leaders. Everyone made their choices on draft day. Maybe next year more owners will truely understand the scoring system. If so, then there shouldn't be such huge early runs on marginal RB's and maybe we'll have better options than Wheatley in the 4th.
It's kind of satisfying to watch those who hoarded RB's at the draft crash and burn.

Route C,
My RB situation is fine now that I have Droughns and Wheatley. LOL..well, except next week when it will be Hambrick and Hoover. If Culpepper and Burleson outscore O. Smith by 34 points tonight I'll also be tied for 1st with 3 others (that will give the current 1st place team an "L".)
What I'm trying to do is create a set of rules that will minimize the advantage of the early round drafters. By having a deeper RB pool, those that choose to go away from stud RB can at least field a starting lineup. That diversity of strategies should only enhance the event.

I know what you're saying. I had the 7th pick (not bad)and would love to have picked James, but it just didn't make sense to pass on Moss. I tried an experiment with the mid season event. With the 6th pick I took A.Green then took Dunn in the 4th. I guess I was already worn out trying to field RB's in the main event.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I am DEAD LAST in the mid season event. Not even close to being competetive. That's okay though. I'll just call it a $100 research project.LOL
Even with the RB canniblism I would only change 1 thing in my main event draft. I should've taken Wayne in the 6th rd instead of Dayne.
Next year I won't be bullied into that mistake. Good luck JP. I hope you make it in. It would be fun to have a fellow Wheatley owner in the playoffs.
If we both make it in, we can make fun of the Holmes/Tomlinson/McAllister owners trying to win the consolation round.

I'm going to start a thread for those who didn't take a RB until the 4th round, just to see how those teams are doing.

14 teams times 2 RBs equal 28... there are 32 starting RBs.

If I knew Dillon was playing I wouldn't have started him, but my only other "start worthy" was Boldin, and since he played at 1:00, I had to make a decision. As it turns out Boldin would have only got me 5 more points, so it isn't a huge deal.
You gonna tell everyone who you have to start at RB next week?
What a dismal week this was for me. I guess I still have a shot if Onterrio outperforms Burleson, but playing against Culpepper..... I may not even watch! How in the heck does Joe Horn only score 4.1 points and Derrick Armstrong scores 14.3? This game is SOOOO unpredictable, and any team can get beat any week!
Good luck everyone!
