I know you won't answer this until tomorrow, but I'll shoot a question or two your way. I just love to start the mahem...lol

Question 1 for Wednesday:

If and when you start the online main event contest, are we allowed to enter more than one team, AND will the NFFC make sure that noone owns more than one team in a single league?

Greg, I see 8 QBs and 8 TEs, then a bunch of ????

Where do you see the talent level drop off for each of the skill positions as #1s?
2008- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic.

Question 1 for Wednesday:

If and when you start the online main event contest, are we allowed to enter more than one team, AND will the NFFC make sure that noone owns more than one team in a single league? Yes and yes. The plan is to offer a wide variety of dates and times for the drafts over a weekly period before the start of the NFL season, so you could do multiple leagues. Each would be $250-$300, depending on the final prize structure. It's a nice area to grow for us, but timing is the key going forward.

Plus, I think everyone can do the math and see that the profit margin is minimal compared to the risk with the guaranteed prize structure. There's a reason AFFL struggled to make ends meet with the revenue model they had. When you guarantee overall prizes, you obviously must meet your level of teams or you'll lose money quickly. So there is risk involved with this and at the end of the day you have to figure out how much risk you're really willing to take. I'm not sure it's prudent to take risks in so many areas and that's why I'm analyzing this area more closely than I had anticipated.

Example: You generate $100,000 in revenue with one game and pay back 80%. That leaves you with $20,000 before expenses. Well, there is a cost per league and a cost per draft and you're talking about an additional 35 leagues or so to monitor and run. It's a lot of work with guaranteed prize money for $10,000-$12,000 in profit. So you have to think it through, know what I mean?

I TOTALLY understand. You don't want to go over your head in any part of your new ventures. The reputation of the NFFC must stay in tact, and I know you'll do what's best to keep that reputation.

I'll keep on the boards and check for updates.

Where do you see the talent level drop off for each of the skill positions as #1s? Russ, this is a good question and in the first couple of industry league drafts I did I seriously targeted positions that were relatively thin. I think QBs is one position you really have to look at. I see eight QBs that I'd take there - Brady, Manning, Romo, Brees, Palmer, Anderson, Roethlisberger and Hasselbeck -- and after that it gets too dicey for me. I know there are no guarantees with the top 8, but I'm going there if at all possible.

At tight end, seven looks good and then you have Shockey at 8 and too many ifs after that. I jumped in too late at tight ends in one draft and paid the price and dove in for Cooley in another and was happy I did. I'm not one to grab a top tight end in the third round, but I definitely want a Top 7 TE this year if at all possible.

RBs seem like Top 15 to me. There's talent after that for sure, but it gets dicier. Still, there are 25 solid choices at RB this year, but a few of those will have RB-by-committee hurdles, too.

WR is deep, deep, deep. I like the top 25 a lot and depending on my draft spot, I could see going RB-WR-WR-WR. You can win a lot of titles with three solid WRs.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I'll ask myself one: When is the NBC Sports Fantasy Football Championship web site going to be live?

STATS is finishing it up today and our goal is to have it live by Friday. We apologize for the delay, but we couldn't contract this out until our contract with NBC Sports was signed. We've created this web site in four weeks and we'll add to it once we get it live. It's a good start.

The web site will include a landing page with all of our live and online offerings for NFFC, NFBC and NBC Sports. This will be the first page you'll go to and from there you'll be able to link to the individual sports and contests. The NBC Sports FFC site will include links to each cities and have similar features to the NFFC site. Registration should be open this weekend as well and our NBC Sports Satellite League schedule should be available too. I'll post that on the Message Boards later today as well.

So we're heading in the right direction. I wish this all could have been done in January, but some deals take more time. And this one definitely did.
