Bears Def Scoring?

A muffed punt, I don't believe, has never been considered a fumble and therefore is not considered a change of possession. I agree with WAZ the punt block or whatever it was should be ruled a special teams score but not the muffed punt and I use the term "muffed" loosely considering it never touched Viking hands.

The Huard fumble with 44 seconds left in the first half, Huard fumbles from the shotgun, picks it up, some guy rides him down and he loses 1 1/2 yards. They have it as him getting back to the line of scrimmage. That's not the way I remember it. No way did he get to the line of scrimmage.
Didn't see a replay though so can't be certain.
He probably lost 3/4 yard and someone figured it was 'no gain'. I think you have to get back to the line of scrimmage to nullify a sack.
They'll probably change it if they review it.

Someone could check it out who has NFL ticket or whatever it's called, since I never saw a replay.

So if it never changes possession then how is it the Bears can recover it? I am not arguing with you Mr. Crow, just the NFL's supposed interpretation. Chicago can only down it, unless it is touched by the Vikings so how did it not change possession? It's the "muff" word that makes it all so sucky isn't it? I sure could use those 6pts in the $1300 DC!!!

Just curious then, what fumble did they get credit for? Am I losing those two points as well?

STATS is looking into this and I believe the Bears are being credited with two defensive TDs. I'm not sure why the NFL didn't initially score this as a defensive TD, but it will be updated tonight.
