Looking For Feedback On Extended FAAB Period

Post by weber7777 » Mon Jun 21, 2010 3:07 pm

- I LOVE THE IDEA, OF EXTENDED FREE AGENT PERIOD AFTER THURSDAY FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

- THINGS HAPPEN AFTER THURSDAY ESPECIALLY WITH KICKERS, WEATHER, ETC. I HEAR PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT WORK, TIME, ETC.. WELL GUESS WHAT, JOIN YOUR LOCAL LEAGUE THEN.. WE SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO PLAY WITH THE BEST AND THAT MEANS BEING ABLE TO MAKE MOVES ON A DIME .. WITH TECHNOLOGY WE ALL HAVE BLACKBERRIES FOR GOD'S SAKE, THIS IS THE BEST PROPOSAL I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE.

- THIS IS A RULE THAT SOME OTHER LEAGUES HAVE AND WORK VERY WELL. IT ELIMINATES THE CRYING WHEN GAMES ARE CANCELLED (I.E. LAST YEAR).

- GREG, I WILL TELL YOU THIS. YOU MAKE A LOT OF RULES CHANGES BASED ON THE INPUT FROM A SELECT FEW IN THIS LEAGUE..Dont' take this the wrong way but i see alot of ass kissing with the jules mcclains of the world he billy wazz's and thats fine they earned respect in this league, but there are lots more of us out there which really are the majority... i love the idea, it's a great proposal..

This helps those who have a guy on that notorious questionable status which seems to be every dam player out there..

these leagues are not for casual gamers.. they are for those who are die-hards. If the people out there don't want this. .join DC leagues. this way there are no moves you have to make. I enjoy the managing of my teams.. it's tough but i enjoy it..

You guys know i rarely put my 2 sense in on these boards but i really feel strongly about this proposal. im sure Billy will be against it..lol.. however it's a good proposal. People Greg are not going to stop playing in the league if you implement this. The same people that are against it i guarantee it if they get screwed with a game cancellation would make a case for it..

I wouldn't play in a contest that awarded "first come first serve" in any fashion.

Simply creates a serious advantage for people who spend their life on the computer. I am a complete diehard, but I have a family, attend games, etc. FAAB over on Fridays is fair for all.

PS.

It has nothing to do with you Weber. I would bet my next paycheck that if this were implemented and someone got to the "hot free agent" before you (hell, you were late for the main event draft in Vegas and were "autopicked" in the first round!!! ), you would be the first to complain.

And for the record, you are currently the ONLY person in favor of this for the 12 and 14 team leagues. Your opinion counts as much as mine (or anyone's), but you are clearly outnumbered here.

That should tell you something. ;)

Greg...just move the free agent day to Saturday for the Primetime and Classic. The closer to game day the better.

I agree it fits best for the 10 team game.

hot free agents would only come into play if you could pick up a guy during games which is not the case.

to compromise i would implement 2 free agent periods but if you want to bid from thursday to sat night midnight, you have to bid and spend money..

I personally do not like how the faab process locks Friday. I feel way too many things happen in the NFL now between Friday evening and kickoff on Sunday and I am not just talking about hurricanes. I do not believe a team should be forced to start a zero or dead spot due to some unforeseen circumstance that a fantasy owner had no way to reasonably compensate for with his bench.

I am a fan of the faab deadline being moved to Saturday evening like CC's mentioned. If we kept it at Friday, I would be in favor of a supplimental faab acquisition process for emergency pickups. All pickups could be $10 minimum buy so an owner who made a faab mistake still has to pay a premium. We all know that all the viable productive players would have already been taken with the first faab bidding on Friday. All that would be left would be the emergency kicker, or back up tight end, or flier WR to fill in for an injury or bye week hole.

I personally would be a fan of something like this.

It's spelled McLean, not mcclain.

Loved the ass kissing I got when I questioned the Special Teams scoring! Yep, Greg & TK sure know how to pucker up! ;)

Renman is right on. I have done NFFC for a number of years. And have ended up with no kicker or D several times. Yes, by poor bidding or bad luck, I admitt. However, we should be able to field a full team. A second chance, no bidding , opportunity, at a 10$ to 20$ price should be incorporated in the rules . First come first served is a big "I don't think so".

Okay, all good feedback and that was the idea of the topic. Remember, this would be after FAAB is run, so I sure hope a hot new free agent doesn't just appear between Friday night and Sunday game day. But I get the point.

Agreed, this is better served for the 10-team league, but the goal is still to make FAAB better for everyone. The FAAB deadline has always been on Fridays to give everyone enough time to receive their new players and set their starting lineups on Sunday. Maybe moving FAAB to Saturday is a worthy discussion. What's your thoughts on that? I don't think a second FAAB on the weekend is what most owners want, so I'm not in favor of that idea.

Keep the thoughts coming, but keep them clean. ;)
