NFFC Content Panel: WR Rankings

Okay, we've asked our 20 NFFC Content Panel members to rank their Top 20 Wide Receivers using NFFC scoring and we had 30 different players nominated by our members. Here's the consensus Top 20 as we put all of the ranking points together. I'll list the Top 20 with their average score and then follow with the Top 20 and their range among the pollsters. Enjoy.

For the panelists who ranked either Fitzgerald and/or Boldin in the Top 10:

1) Do you not believe new HC Whisenhunt's committment to the run?
2) Think that the Cardinals Defense will be so bad that the run committment will have to be scrapped in too many second halves? or
3) Have no idea who Whisenhunt is or what I am talking about?

There are times when #2's are as good, or better than certain #1's. I know you seem to disagree, but just giving my 2 cents.

Also, I can't believe no one ranked Frisman Jackson in their top 20.

Here's a little more analysis on the Top 20 WRs ranked by our NFFC Content Panel and the range of votes:

Top 20 Wide Receivers

1. Steve Smith 1.86 (range of 1 to 4): Smith received half of the first place votes and just two 3rds and one fourth. Solid showing.

2. Chad Johnson 2.36 (range of 1 to 5): CJ received all but two of the other first place votes, but he had two fourth place votes and one fifth place vote.

3. Torry Holt 3.86 (range of 1 to 6): Holt received one first place vote, one sixth place vote, four second place votes and four fifth place votes. A pretty wide range of votes for a Top 5 pick.

4. Reggie Wayne 5.36 (range of 1 to 8): Wayne received one first place vote and two eighth place votes, but for the most part he was in the 4-5 range.

5. Marvin Harrison 5.50 (range of 2 to 11): Harrison received one second place vote and five third place votes, but he also received an 11th place vote. Throwing that one out, he had one eighth place vote and three 7th place votes.

6. Terrell Owens 5.64 (range of 3 to 13): Owens received four third place votes, three fourth place votes and two fifth place votes, but he also was ranked 13th by one owner. Throw that one out and his lowest vote was seventh place.

7. Larry Fitzgerald 7.00 (range of 3 to 9): Fitzgerald received one third place vote and three ninth place votes, but mainly he fell in the 7-8 range.

8. Roy Williams 9.71 (range of 7 to 13): Williams received three seventh place votes and one 13th place vote, but mainly he was in the 8-10 range.

9. T.J. Houshmandzadeh 11.57 (range of 6 to 16): Now the ranges start to spread out. Housh received one sixth place vote and one seventh place vote, but he also received one 16th place vote and one 15th place vote. 10-14 seemed to be the middle range for Housh.

10. Javon Walker 12.21 (range of 7 to 16): Walker received one seventh place vote and three other Top 10 votes, but he also was ranked 16th once and 14th once. Most picks were 11-13, however.

11. Anquan Boldin 12.43 (range of 6 to 16): Boldin received one sixth place vote and three ninth place votes, but he also received two 16th place votes. For the most part he was picked in the 10-12 range.

12. Donald Driver 13.50 (range of 8 to 17): Driver had four Top 10 votes including an eighth place vote and two votes for No. 17.

13. Marques Colston 13.50 (range of 8 to 18): Colston also had four Top 10 votes, one at No. 18 and one at No. 17. Most of his votes, though were in the 12-15 range.

14. Andre Johnson 14.43 (range of 8 to 18; one no vote): Three owners had Johnson ranked eighth -- his only Top 10 votes -- and one owner had him unranked. It could have been a mistake. The next lowest votes were one for 18th and one for 16th.

15. Lee Evans 14.43 (range of 7 to 19): Evans had two votes for seventh place and three Top 10 votes overall, but he also received two votes for No. 19 and two for No. 18.

16. Randy Moss 16.29 (range of 8 to 20; one no vote): Moss could be the most interesting WR to be picked on Draft Day as he received one eighth place vote and was unranked on one list. His next lowest ranking was 11th and he did receive one 20th place vote. Should be an interesting call on his status come D-Day.

17. Plaxico Burress 17.36 (range of 12 to 20): He received one 12th place vote and one at No. 20, but for the most part was ranked 13th through 18th.

18. Hines Ward 19.00 (range of 14 to no vote): Ward was unranked on one-third of the ballots, but did receive three votes for No. 14.

19. Laveranues Coles 19.93 (range of 16 to no vote): Coles received one vote for No. 16 and was unranked on three lists, but for the most part he was steady at 17-20.

20. Darrell Jackson 22.36 (range of 16 to no vote): More than half of the panelists didn't have D-Jax in their Top 20. Opinions were very mixed for this final spot.

Thoughts?

Will not having Joe Horn around to lock "horns" with the opposing teams #1 corner-back have much effect on every ones 2006 Cinderella Colston?

Will the sophomore slump play out now that the NFL knows to respect him...or are there just too many weapons to defend in the Big Easy?

Unranking Andre Johnson seems extreme.

Terrell Owens caught 13 and dropped 5 TD's...he's still pretty good.

Are those "rounds" ranges (5.36) based on a 12 team format? No way you'll get some of those guys in the 5th round in a 14 team format. (IMO)

~Lance The total at the end (5.36) is his ranking among WRs. For the most part he went fifth overall among the panelists' WR rankings. Make sense?
