NFFC Unveils First Auction Championship

With my All-Play concept, you would play EVERY team in EVERY league each week for the Overall Championship.

You suck one week and you pay like you should for sucking that week.

Yes on top h2h and total points earning their money back after Week 13.

Correct on DC format. Total points all 16 weeks there among all leagues. May the best team win.

Getting closer? i don't like that.. i like the 6 quite honestly.. if your good your always in it.. period.. thats how the NFFC has always run it. you please those who have played in it all these years and you then do an overall to please the total point diehards..

if you went to 3 then you start taking away from the original format which i really like..

i am confident in my abilities, but with 6 making league playoffs i know i'll always be in thick of it unless i drafted a team while i was drunk or high.. Billy SHUT UP..lol..

just my 2 cents.

you already have rules, don't drastically change them.. tinker is fine but don't drastically change them at this point.. alot will play no matter what.

Actually, I would like to see the LEAGUE format stay AS IS, but only let the top 2 teams from each league (pts and record) make the championship round for the 10K.

Since I highly doubt you are gonna go for straight points from weeks 1-16, I think this is a good compromise.

I guess I am bitter. Last year Our auction team lost our best (highest paid) WR for the year in week one due to an injury. We were still able to put together a winning season and we were clearly a top 3 team. We lost the last two H2H matches and got nothing (took 4th). The league was won by the 5th seed. How is this good? Good for the 5th best team I guess.

This situation has basically a replay of every auction team (except one) we have had in the NFFC. Ripped off every year except one IMO. It gets old having the second or third best team and never winning anything only to see the money go to team 5 or 6. I could live with a winner take all and getting nothing for second. But most the money going to 5th. I think it's Just Stupid in a high stakes SKILL league. But that's just me.

NFFC Unveils First Auction Championship

Okay, if you only allow two teams per league into the Championship Round, then you'll have only 14 teams going for the $10,000 grand prize. That's basically 14 percent of the available teams making the Championship Round. That can certainly be seen as a positive or a negative, just like it was in the NFFC Classic for the first five years.

I've adjusted the rules to allow three teams per league in the Championship Round and four teams per league in the League playoffs. Both are Weeks 14-16. I've taken your input and adjusted the rules, but let's discuss this format for a bit. Here you go:

NFFC Auction Championship
The National Fantasy Football Championship Auction Leagues will consist of 14 teams, with each team compiling 19 NFL players using an imaginary $200 team budget. Teams will play every other team in their league once in head-to-head competition, with the team with the best overall record winning an $850 prize and the team with the most total points during the regular season also winning $850. One team can win both prizes if they accomplish both achievements. Tie-breakers for the head-to-head title is total points. The top four teams according to the criteria below after Week 13 advance to the league playoffs. The league playoff will be held Week 14 through Week 16. Teams will carry their weekly scoring average from the first 13 weeks of competition (i.e. 130.15 points) into the playoffs and then add their point totals from Weeks 14, 15 and 16 to that initial total to determine the league champion. The top THREE teams from each league after Week 13 will also advance to the Championship Round for additional prize money including a guaranteed $10,000 grand prize. Teams will carry their weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-13 into the Champonship Round and add that total to their scoring totals in Weeks 14, 15 and 16. The highest scoring team in the Championship Round after Week 16 wins the grand prize. Non-Championship Round teams will compete in the Consolation Round under the same scoring format (weekly scoring average + scores from Weeks 14-16) for prizes.

League playoff qualifiers from each league include:
Seed #1: Best h2h record (total points is the tie-breaker)
Seed #2: Most total points (next most total points if h2h champ had more points)
Seed #3: Next most total points
Seed #4: Next most total points (this team does not advance to Championship Round of the overall contest; top three teams do)
Yes, this happened in our format where h2h play was held over the last three weeks. This team may not have necessarily been the best team over the last three weeks, but he was the best team in each individual matchup during Weeks 14-16.

Making it total points over the last three weeks might change the results. Or not?? We'll see. But we'll definitely reduce the number of teams getting into the league playoffs and Championship Round now with the added overall contest. That seems to make sense.
I'm right with you Mike.

I finished 2nd in points and had the 3rd best record. Since they changed it to POINTS being the #1 seed (whihch I agree with), I got the 3rd seed and no bye. I lost week one to a clearly inferior team (just kidding Jack, your team was good! )

As for letting more teams in, I totally understand Greg's point of view. If you give more people at a chance at the lottery, more people will play. There are too many people who know they are "overmatched", need the "luck" to win, and aren't going to play because they know they stand little chance to win anything.

From a gamer's standpoint, more opportunity = more $$, but the people who are skilled year in and year out are the ones who suffer. :(

I think keeping the league playoffs as is (6 teams) and only most points and best record from each league getting in the championship round is a good compromise.....with as you said, those two teams getting $850 each (for points and record), so if/when they get screwed out of their additional league $$$, they can say they got something. ;)

So no more H2H in the playoffs for the individual leagues?

LEAGUE- 4 teams in and take scoring average + weeks 14-16?

C-SHIP ROUND- 3 teams in and take scoring average + weeks 14-16?

Top 2 seeds would get their $850 back before they started playoffs?

Did I read that correct, Greg?

If so, I can live with that. I like that you are only rewarding ONE record team, and 3 total points teams for the league playoffs.

It looks good, Greg.....nicely done! :D

Big Mike. Maybe 6th if I come to Chicago!

It's all good, if I perform like last year, I will be dead money in the DC and you can get your $$$ back there. :D
