To keep the Auction Championship alive with only four leagues, all owners agreed to the new prize structure, which included an $8,000 grand prize. Good luck all.

Is there a consolation round for the auction leagues?

If I understand it right, the top 4 teams in each league go into a deathmatch for league 1-3. Avg. weeks 1-13+14+15+16 = highest three totals = league money paid out.

From that group, though, only 3 of the 4 make it to the overall bonus money round?

So top 3 in each league go to the finals - that means 3x4 = 12 teams for 5 prizes in the auction overall? That's a nice bonus prize pool for so few owners!

Greg, it's a reach, but theoretically a team could finish in the top 10 in points in the auction overall and miss the finals because they were 4th in their league. Are there any 'plus teams' provisions for the auction formats?

The National Fantasy Football Championship Auction Leagues will consist of 14 teams, with each team compiling 19 NFL players using an imaginary $200 team budget. Teams will play every other team in their league once in head-to-head competition, with the team with the best overall record winning an $850 prize and the team with the most total points during the regular season also winning $850. One team can win both prizes if they accomplish both achievements. Tie-breakers for the head-to-head title is total points. The top four teams according to the criteria below after Week 13 advance to the league playoffs. The league playoff will be held Week 14 through Week 16. Teams will carry their weekly scoring average from the first 13 weeks of competition (i.e. 130.15 points) into the playoffs and then add their point totals from Weeks 14, 15 and 16 to that initial total to determine the league champion. The top THREE teams from each league after Week 13 will also advance to the Championship Round for additional prize money including a guaranteed $10,000 grand prize. Teams will carry their weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-13 into the Champonship Round and add that total to their scoring totals in Weeks 14, 15 and 16. The highest scoring team in the Championship Round after Week 16 wins the grand prize. Non-Championship Round teams will compete in the Consolation Round under the same scoring format (weekly scoring average + scores from Weeks 14-16) for prizes.

The rules seem to indicate there is a consolation.

Yeah, the feedback from our members this off-season was to lower the number of playoff teams from past seasons and we really wanted to reward those teams that went into the Championship Round. Our original goal was seven leagues and 21 teams fighting for the overall money spots, but with only four leagues the odds of winning additional money got better.

The overall prize is $8,000 as noted on the Auction Championship main page. That text needs to be changed in the rules. Sorry, no 'plus teams' spots for the Auction Championship. Finish Top 3 in your league if you want a shot at the overall money. Good luck all.
