At least we'll have some fun until Thursday when the right to smack will start to be determined.

Chad Johnson -- 3.11
Un-be-freaking-lievable.
In my league, 7 RBs who have yet to play in or have a solid full season in the NFL (Chris Brown/Rudi Johnson/Thomas Jones/Lee Suggs/Quentin Griffith/Kevin Jones/Julius Jones) went before the 11th pick in the third round.
Rudi would have the best resume, but even he only started 5 games last year (four of which were lights out).
BIGT -- Our first four rounds were remarkably similar, but your 6-9th picks could very conceivably score zero points over the first eight weeks of the season (and you may only get a few games from Onterrio).
That's why having a second brain at the table is worth more than $100.

Hello. My name is Lee Scoresby. I come from Texas, like flying hot-air balloons, being eaten by talking polar bears and fantasy football.

Ico
Very impressive group. Should compete for all the marbles. I think you are one of the few who actually understood the scoring system well enough to go against conventional thinking. I was in Chicago3 pick7.
QB Manning
RB's Wheatley,Dayne,Fargas,Pittman
WR's R.Moss,Mason,Walker,Kennison,Watts,Engram
TE's F.Jones,Witten
K&D Elam,Pittsburg
RB's are a stretch. I guess I always have to swim upstream but I hate letting RB paranoia dictate my strategy.
One of the responses to this discussion was taking 3 RB's would eliminate some competitors in the league. At what price? I thought we all wanted the BIG trophy. I will go out on a limb here and say that the overall champ will not be a RB/RB/RB owner. Good luck to all the owners who understand the scoring system.

C.Johnson falling past the 2nd round is a travesty in ANY league, especially this one. But, nothing the rest of us can do about it now.
BTW, Ico, getting Andre at 4.11 was a steal, IMO. I drafted him at 3.12 because I didn't think he'd make it to me after the hook. Probably could've had C-mart instead and waited on Andre at 4.03. Instead ended up with Andre/Garner (27th RB drafted).

I am thoroughly enjoying all these posts.
I really enjoyed talking with everyone in LV after the drafts.
We were very excited about our draft. As always, still will need lots of luck.
We had the 3rd overall pick.
Culpepper, McCown, Frerrote
S ALexander, Q Griffin, Dayne, J Jackson
Porter, Muhammad, Gardner, Glenn, Boldin/B Johnson
Heap, Witten
Akers, Stover
New Orleans

3.11?! I had hoped to get him at 2.8 and wasn't even close, however due to some QB and WR love I unexpectedly had Faulk fall to me (now if he can last the season (longshot)) and got him paired with Portis...we shall see...

Im still surprised to hear that nobody is really talking about the importance of the Head 2 Head aspect of this league. Everyone is making this comparison as if this league is based solely on points. There are going to be some leagues where the 3rd and 4th place teams have more points than some League winners, and they are going to end up on the sidelines because they were in a tough league. The only way you can guarantee yourself your LCG and an automatic spot in the finals, is to win all of your games.
When you have 3 good backs, you arent shorthanded on a bye week. You can throw overall stats at each position out the window at that point when you are starting Edge and Najeh Davenport vs. Ahman Green and Travis Henry.
Those who picked RB/RB/RB will be scrambling to find players to fill their 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th WR spots. WR is the easiest place to find production. After Randy Moss, there is no surefire lock to score at will.
Harrison and Holt more than likely will with a few others but its not a given. Look at Boldin his first year, look at Moss his first year. Who's to say that guys like Javon Walker, Charlie Rogers, Jerry Porter, and Brandon Lloyd dont keep pace with the Joe Horns and the Chad Johnsons of the world. Are they better now? No, but it happens every year. WRs always step up, just like when Chad Johnson and Hines Ward stepped up. You cant make the same argument for running backs because there simply aren't a lot of good ones.
The problem is this is all theoretical and very seldom can you look back at the end of the season and say that the winner's opening day lineup held up. There are always going to be guys come out of nowhere that have a big impact. The guys that have 3 stud RBs catch lightning with a WR having a career year, and the guys with the stud WRs catch lighting with a backup RB who comes out of nowhere, so it ends up being a moot point when its all said and done most of the time.
Its cool though to have a civilized debate on here without it getting nasty as it usually always does. There are 2 very different schools of thoughts here, and both of them have and can work. Its just up to each individual team, but I think more credit needs to be thrown toward H2H's direction.
Best of luck to everyone this season and thank god the preseason is over.

My crime partner Pinchi Brian and I have to agree with Ico. Once the insane RB run had worked its way back to us, we felt there was no other way to go than stocking up our starting WR's. We knew that our RB depth would suffer, but we felt that we could afford to do this since we were sitting on Ladainian. I'm interested to see how it all works out, but I am confident our squad will crush a few skulls along the way!

So how did everyone do?
Here's my draft with comments. LV2, pick 5.
1)D.McAllister RB
2)C.Johnson WR (TO went before. many marginal #2 RB's went before also. I was happy. I can get a marginal RB later) Staley went 1.12. I would have taken Dillon or C.Brown buth they went 2.7/2.8
3)P.Manning or L.Suggs? quick change in strategy today. I'll reach in Rd 4 for unknown RB.
4)J.Jones RB... several of us had lunch with Gil Brandt Thursday. He's been at our trade shows for years. He gave me Buckhalter as a rookie. He likes Jones a lot and said he will get better every week and that George was plain awful in camp.
5)B.Lloyd WR.. wanted Porter here, but he went 5.3. Lloyd and Jones do what I expect, and I win my division. If they don't, I'm #4-5 in this league.
6)D.Branch WR.. had him last year as #6 WR. I wanted him again. When asked who would benefit most from new NFL rules change, Gil, w/o a doubt said D.Branch.
7)E.Kennison WR.. wanted Moe Williams here big time, but he was taken pick before. Only time that happened all day Happy with Kennison now with KC WR problems.
8)M.Vanderjagt K... He won 3 games for me last year in WCOFF auction and I now get 7 pt TD's and 3-5 pts when they don't score.
9)J.Rice WR... #5 WR.. good value..
10)G.Hearst RB... needed RB depth.. not too sold on Griffin's durability. T.Bell went 5.1 LOL.
11) Philly D... nice value here
12) R.Anderson.. 56 Rec in last 8 games. I'll take 10-15 in the bye weeks when all those reached score 0.
13) B.Stokely... Indy WR depth pick.
14) T.Pinkston... more depth... TO to be doubled..
15) D.Clark TE
16) E.Kinney TE not a bad pair late
17) D.Brees QB... got screwed a few rounds earlier when 6 QB's went from 13 to 6 and I had no bye weeker. Most likely will use waiver wire for bye week backup.
18) M.Schaub QB... for when they announce that Vick is mentally impaired and can't grasp new offense. He'll likely be waived when bye needs arise.

I was in NY League #6 Pick 9. Going into the draft I thought it was a bad spot but after seeing my picks I have changed my mind. I think I have a solid squad ... let me know what you think:
QB - Maddoux / B. Johnson
RB - J. Lewis / S. Davis
WR - J. Smith /P. Warrick /D. Givens /P. Burress
TE - Gonzalez
K - Stover
D - Baltimore
Gonzalez at pick #37 was huge. To get the top D and top TE with two solid RB's is amazing!
