Jeez, are CAPS that annoying? Grow up a little. I admit I find the Snake-Waz skirmishes beyond boring. However, it is not that big of a deal, I just skip past their verbal warfare and read something else. I suggest you do the same.

Greg, I may be risking a flag too, but ... would it be possible for you to set-up a special section ...... kinda like the smoking section in a restaurant?

Anyone that screams in CAPS or refers to themselves in the third person must do so in the "special" section, where they can hang out together while blowing smoke on/up each other, while the rest of us remain free to live in our clean, happy society where people respect each other and communicate accordingly? :D FLAAAAGGGGGGG!!! (NOTICE THE ALL CAPS!!!) :D
I must have thrown the wrong FLAAAAAGGGGGGG initially. FLAG on everyone inside this thread!! :D 15 yards both ways. :D

I do agree that for Message Boards to thrive and have usefulness, there is a level of courtesy that members should show to others. And much of that is policed by the people who post themselves. There's nothing wrong with being unique, but as many have stated here that uniqueness can be annoying. I think what folks said originally is that because of some folks' uniqueness, they don't even read any posts submitted by those folks.

I guess that's the only way to deal with a board of unique individuals. Just ignore the posts you don't want anything to do with and move on. Because it's plainly obvious that certain folks aren't changing and responding to that uniqueness only brings out longer, more useless posts that never seem to end. And it's taking up valuable cyberspace that could be used for solving global warming or something else Nobel Peace prize worthy. :D
Greg,

Based on what you stated above, I don't understand why the rampant use of profanity isn't allowed on this message board. Couldn't those that would find it to be a rude practice just ignore it and move on?

We want everyone here to be able to express themselves and have fun and make this an entertaining and informative forum. We simply act that people respect one another and show some common sense and decency. If they fail to do that, that's when Greg or I will step in. We continue to hope we don't have to do that. That's the goal. that is the best thing i've heard on this board. and Tom is absolutely correct. too many times people take it upon themselves to post on the boards things they would never say to someone face to face.. do you think snake in person will talk to you like he talks on the boards? No. there are so many examples but Tom great words of wisdom.

People that chose elective behaviours that are annoying to a great many other's should evaluate their own ego and maturity and not that of others.

It really says a lot about who you are to intentionally and persistantly annoy other people. Is it the end of the world? No, but the behaviour is self-indulgent.

Barry, first, it isn't me that decides anything. Certain things are considered offensive to many or most people. Writing in caps in a society that is started from scratch might not be offensive to people, you could say the same thing about porn or anything else. However, in our online society, it IS considered offensive by many people. And thus, knowing this, it can also be appropriately considered rude for someone that doesn't follow it. That doesn't make the guy a mass murderer, just makes him rude.

Let me ask you a question ... if you and a woman are on an elevator, do you let her exit first or do you rush the door? If you exit first is this patently offensive, does anyone get hurt by it? No, but it is considered rude, nonetheless. Why? It is simply etiquette, and if you don't follow etiquette that most people accept, you will likely be viewed as either rude or ignorant.

This has been said before, but I'll say it again. This has nothing to do with being "unique". I see guys on elevators all the time with tatoos, hardward sticking out of their face, you name it, anything you can imagine in terms of their looks and no doubt their personalities too. But 90% of them still do wait for a woman to exit the elevator first. Because it is etiqutte, not an expression of individuality. Same applies here. HOWEVER IF THE GUYS DOES IT ALL THE TIME, ONE WOULD GET USED TO IT. MAYBE THE GUY HAS HIS OWN THING ABOUT EXITING THE ELEVATOR FIRST. HOW IF HE PUSHES THE WOMAN OR KNOCKS HER DOWN TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE ELEVATOR FIRST THEN I WOULD CONSIDER THAT RUDE. HOWEVER IF THE WOMAN AND MAN ARE RIDING ON THE ELEVATOR AND THE FIRST THREE TIMES HE EXITS BEFORE HER BY THE FOURTH TIME AND SO ON SHE WOULD JUST SAY TO HERSELF "HMM THAT'S JUST HIM" AND I DON'T THINK SHE WOULD GO ON ABOUT IT AND SHE WOULD ACCEPT HIM FOR WHO HE HIS.
So if I say your mom is a ***** the 4th time, It's just me?

Since it's OK to be rude on these boards, my apologies to the women here and if I offend anyone with that statement. Just trying to make a point.

There really is nothing wrong with being different if that is what you truly are.

What I mean is there are people who truly "walk to the beat of another drum", and those who are different because they seek attention.

Now I have never met some of the people "in question" on this thread, but I know that some of their behaviors (writing in CAPS, talking in third person, etc. aren't a huge deal with me).

I say look at the other actions that person does/does not do to decide WHY they are different.

i.e.... is there an alterior motive (like seeking attention).

Now that really did make me laugh Richie. Somehow that must have taken you 30-40 minutes to type it good enough/bad enough to half understand!! :D

It's hard to believe, but the start of this thread was Tom's Week 6 Vibes. It's usually a good read. This week, it SUCKS!!! :D Way to start this MB babble, Tom. Way to go!! :D

It's obvious nobody is changing, so it's time to put this one to rest. Some folks continue to talk in third person. Some folks continue to continually talk about themselves. Some folks WRITE IN ALL CAPS. All the peer pressure possible isn't changing these folks, from what I can tell.

Let's get back to football and move on. All points have been made and many were right on point. But time to move on and make these boards about football talk again. Thanks all.
