Got my 2nd KDS pick for this league. I drafted from #1 and #14 this year, thought I'd try something different for this league, if I had a chance. Just noticed we have three Mark(c)'s and three Bill(y)'s in this league, should be fun in the chat room. Looking forward to this Friday night. Good luck to all, and have fun.

Okay, now it's time to analyze the KDS that produced the draft order above. As all NFFC owners know, KDS is very important now that we have Third Round Reversal. KDS (known as the Kentucky Derby System) allows owners to tell us where they want to draft once they are randomly picked out of the draft list. We then "seed" these teams and with any luck most of them get spots that they love.

This year KDS is going to work nicely because everyone seems to have a different opinion of where the best draft spots are. This league was a PERFECT example of how KDS works for the owners. First, here are the 14 KDS listings and then some analysis:

Here's the data:

** The average draft preference received by the above 14 owners was 3.28, which is as good as I've ever seen in the NFFC. That means that on average every owner got their third preference. Amazingly, the last owner picked got his 14th preference, so discounting that one the other 13 owners got an average preference of 2.46.

** FIVE owners got their first preference, which is about as good as it gets. FOUR other owners got their second preference. Two other owners got their third preference, so we had 11 of 14 owners getting a Top 3 preference. The other preferences were 4, 9 and 14.

** As noted above, the last person pulled got his last preference. Ironically, the 13th person pulled got his second preference. That just shows you how varied the KDS listings are.

While the NFFC is still the only contest I know of that uses KDS with 3RR, it's a formula that seems to work for the customers. Why should you let us tell you where you should draft when you can tell us where you want to draft? And not only that, but you can now build winning strategies around areas of the draft that you hope to land in. I just see this as a win-win for everyone and by the results above it sure is working in the early season drafts. Good luck everyone and thanks for making this work.

Well, guppies you have your advantage, but it won't help The odds were against you Rich, but someone has to come out of the computer last and your KDS matched up with what the others liked. Sorry, but if Meat Loaf says two out of three ain't bad then 13 out of 14 really ain't bad!! :D Somehow I know you'll do just fine wherever you draft. Good luck on Friday.
