Thoughts On Point Reception Leagues
Wait a Minute, correct me if I am wrong ( Like I needed to Qualify that point ), but, were not a majority of people crying just before the draft that if they did not draw 1 of the top 3 draft slots for a shot at LJ, Lt and Alexander, that they stood no chance of winning..? Now, I don't mind either way, I just love to play the Game, and if were all playing by the same rules, well then that's as fairs as it gets. BUT, would not more people like to see other positions besides Running Backs get Drafted in the 1st Round..? Damn , I'm all for Defence, Tight Ends and Yes even Kickers getting more credit. I mean , we all agree Defence wins Championships, and just ask Dallas if Kickers are important, aka - Vanderjagt. I'm just saying, SINCE GREG ASKED, that Bringing up the Value of those undervalued players would be a good Thing. I really don't see it eliminating all the HYPE leading up to Draft Day on Who is # 1. That will still happen regardless. I just think its time to give the other positions their DUE..!

No love for TE, K, DEF/ST??? (Ha!)
~Lance I guess I'm not a big fan of RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB QB RB RB RB RB RB WR RB RB RB RB RB WR RB RB RB RB RB ...
I would vote for 1/2 point for RB catches. It's best where it's at in the NFFC.
... by the way ... I have no Love for the Kickers.

IF EVERYONE IS PLAYING BY THE SAME SCORRING CATAGORIES, THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE..!!! NOW if its just a matter of trying to equalize the VALUE of PLAYERS so when DRAFTING there is less GAPS between QBs' - RBs' and WRs', I am All for that. AS a Matter of Fact, I think That would make the Game So much BETTER. If you could come up with a scoring method that makes the Top 20... say 14 QBs' - RBs' - WRs' all come out to about the same Value, That would lower the value of so called " Great Draft Spots 1-5 " and increase the value of Drafting well in the Middle and Late Rounds, which anyone worth thier salt should be in favor. Because, why should a manager who was lucky enough to draft Ladanian Tomlinson and a bunch of Bums, Beat a mangager who drafts Marvin Harrison and a solid crew..? ITS ABOUT TEAM, NOT SUPERSTARS... at least I think it Should Be. I agree but ... we got away from TD only leagues (not because they were unfair) ... but because they lacked balance and TD's are fluky.
Rules are important because they make the game more fun ... I wouldn't be in the NFFC if they didn't have the rules they have.

I Agree with that UYT, which is why I PIMP this league to everyone I meet that is into Fantasy Sports, and Why this is the only League I'll playing Now. I'm just entertaining what I thought was Greg's Intention, and that is, putting forth observations and suggestions, That's All...!!

I hope to present a new fantasy football topic each week for our members to articulate on. This sure beats some of the other banter on the boards lately. Good stuff and thanks.

greg,
Great point about good healthy fantasy football discussion beating the usual banter that goes on here now. I remember my first NFFC season there was lots of football talk. Now it seems to have sunk into the petty bickering and mocking stuff and very limited football talk.

Petty bickering and mockery can be healthy, too.

Greg ... would it be possible to poll the league, with a question in order to get a feel for where people stand on this issue of " Position Parity "..? I realize some guys are old fashion and like to stick to the way things have always been, I tend to do that myself But, like everything in life things tend to evolve, and I don't think Fantasy Sports is immune to that. When these games first started it was about Touch-Downs, then came Yardage, then came flex-players, then came IDP, ( which BTW, I would be for adding ... 1 DL , 1 LB & 1 DB ) but that's a topic and Poll for another time, for Now , what about just bring up the value of the weaker positions just a tad, they don't have to be all perfectly even, but enough so we don't see what UYT so elegantly illustrated... rb,rb,rb,rb,rb,rb,rb,rb.rb.qb,rb,wr,rb,rb,wr,rb,rb,...

Personally I think the current system skews in the favor of WR's. Currently 17 or the top 25 and 31 of the top 50 scorerers in Avg/game are wide recievers with one tight end in the top 50 as well. That means that out of the top 50 WR/TE/RB's the Running Back position makes 36%. I would say a 0 Rec for RB and .5 for WR/TE would make them a little more even as RB's usually put up more consistent yards than a WR/TE.
As for roster size why not bump it up to 20...no matter what anybody says there are always guys who will not get drafted on draft day and go on to have great fantasy seasons....Gado last year, N. Goings a few years back. I highly doubt these guys were drafted by many teams and with the amount of injuries in todays game people always come out of nowhere...and whats wrong with having a backup kicker or defense?
