Flobble-de-flee!
I mean the monologue was funny... Well, the hygiene thing was a little crazy, but you know artistic license and all...
Having said that, I'm not sure I get the point. I don't think H2H is some newfangled advancement that I'm resisting?
I just know I'm a serious player... probably too serious, that's fine. But I put a lot of time and effort into TRYING to be good. I have no problem losing, it has nothing to do with that. I can sit back and admire someone kicking my butt with a superior team or an especially brilliant pick up or matchup play. My ONLY frustration about fantasy football is when I lose through no fault of my own nor skill of the others in the league.
Why should I be happy about that random luck?
Just curious.

Couldn't resist Dyv, prob better suited for your grumpy thread.

Dyv Hey, I agree with you on having the best team win, but I think the consistentcy of h2h is a valid measure of skill, which total pts totally misses. If the top 4 tms in h2h go playoff (with a pts tiebreaker), and then the next two highest in points go, how many "skilled" teams get screwed? My guess is none. Of course, I'd still be in favor of a modified h2h lge which reduces luck, but I've given up that fight.

Dyv Random luck, like the guy who posted about the timeout at the end of the game Monday helping his team will always be part of fantasy football.
Accept it.
Deal with it.
Relish it.
Down with Robot Fantasy Football!!
Did you ever think that you WIN for the same reason too?
There is much more skill in trying to eek out every point possible each week to get that H2H win with all the varibales involved than just playing strictly points.
There would be little reason to FAAB block among a host of other strategies.
Good LUCK to you this Week !!

oops..
I forgot to mention...
I'd like to see 3 and 3. In this format, that makes sense.

Last year in the Auction Leagues we allowed two teams to earn top seeds by winning divisional titles and four teams to earn playoff spots by total points. This year we were asked to have just one division, which I did, so one other playoff spot was given to total points. If people want a new playoff format for 2006 in the Auction Leagues, bring it on. Three and three is fine by me. I haven't changed. High points is still the best indicator to me, but I don't want to argue that point for 10 pages - at least not yet.

I like head the head to head when it is meaningfull. I Liked the format you had last year ... it was fine with me. I like Gekkos format a little better because it rewards a couple poor scoring head to head teams with a outside shot into the playoffs. They still need to win 2 games to get any money.
I don't like 13 weeks acumulation of points like the current sattellite leagues (H2H really doesn't come into play) ... only to basically have the first 13 weeks thrown out to basically start over for three weeks (too much like NASCAR ... be top 10 ... then basically start from scratch with a 5 point difference). I know this is like the main event ... but it is only necessary because of the cross league platform.
I personally have never been a big fan of playoffs ... but if your going to have them ... I like your current system the 2 bye's for the two best teams.
I also don't mind H2H as long as it is meaningful. If it's not meaningful ... then get rid of the playoffs and go 16 weeks of total points. Anyone who argues the luck of H2H ... will not like the luck of playoffs either.
My opinion in order
Total points for 16 weeks.
H2H for 16 weeks.
H2H/total points combo 13 weeks w/ playoffs.
H2H only 13 weeks w/ playoffs.
Total points 13 weeks w/ total points playoffs.
I'm not a big fan of playoffs ... but if your going to have them ... H2H should be a method to get there ... since H2H will deturmine the winner.
My two cents

Dvy-er,
Duke swore off the crack pipe last year when he sobered up and realized that he wasted his first 8 picks on Pittsburg Steelers.
Then again, I have not had a chance to look at this years "strategy". He may have been hitting it at the Palace Station for all I know.

I dont like the format if true one head to head team gets in , then 5 next total points. Why play head to head if your not going to be rewarded with those wins.Im in the auction league and didnt no the format. SO doesnt mater if i win just get as many points as i can.
Im a little bummed out if this is the way.

Im a little bummed out if this is the way. Exactly ... It's kind of fun to win ... but I am only concerned with total points. Winning H2H is pretty meaningless unless your the first place H2H. I think H2H would come into play a lot more if positions 5 and 6 were determined by H2H too.

Lumpy's Losers [/QUOTE]Lumpy - Hines, Roethlisberger and Plax turned out OK, but that will be forever knows as the "Duce Staley Team", which pretty much sums up the last year's performance.
This year's strategic initiatives were: 1) get a QB that doesn't suck, and 2) don't draft Duce Staley. Of course it looks like the ghost of Duce has taken over Mike Anderson's body.
