~Lance I agree 100%. The days of no brainer picks are history.

three points...
1. currently, most owners perception is that the current serpentine draft gives an advantage to owners drafting early. following that up quite nicely is that the actual results (from nffc & wcoff data) clearly show an advantage to owners drafting early
2. for 3RR to work, it has to improve the two things in bold, perception and actual results. IMO, you have to put some extra thought into your KDS rankings beginning with this year. this is 100% due to 3RR being implemented. 3RR has changed my perception, and i'm sure it has changed many others perception as well (even if it's only a slight change). as for the actual results with 3RR, we can only project what they'll be. but after a year or two, we can begin to see the data points fill in.
3. do you and lou (and others like renman, etc...) ever take a stand or lead a charge when faced with a situation where there is insufficient data to TELL you which way to go? or are you the hecklers in the back of the room, resistant to any kind of change?
thanks.

I think the loss of the entire coaching staff in San Diego has more impact on my perception than 3RR.

[/QUOTE]This could be true, but I still think Moe as the head coach, Curly as the offensive coordinator, and Larry as the defensive coordinator still keeps LT at #1.
Of course I don't believe that LT will have the season he had last year, but unless he gets injured I don't see how ANYONE cannot take him #1.
If there is someone out there, I hope I am in their league and I get the #2!

The question is which division has the worst defenses, the AFC West or the NFC West?

BY far te NFC West IMO. Zona, Frisco, Seattle, and the Rams can ALL be beat on the ground OR through the air.
Denver, SD, and at times KC and even Oaktown can be pretty tough (the Raiders are a pushover vs the run).
Advantage: STEVEN JACKSON
Start pimping him as the #1 pick due to his schedule, and I will GLADLY take the #2 spot!

Ladies and gentlemen. For too long we have vested our complete faith in the ability of the standard draft format to correct itself. Sure, the warning signs were there, but we paid them no attention. Then, when the first picks just kept winning more than the other picks we thought we could take the easy way out and employ KDS.
But do you know what?
It didn't work. The top picks still had an advantage. And fantasy football should be a level playing field.
So, after I invented the internet, I invented 3RR. Sure, others are trying to take credit for it. But, thats not important as long as we all agree that I invented it.
And 3RR will make all your fantasy football dreams come true. Those with the first picks will still feel privledged. Those with the last picks will enjoy something better than they had before. And those in the middle...well, those in the middle will get to play fantasy football. And that ain't bad!
So, sit back and enjoy the show! Nicely stated Al!

3RR, Socialized Fantasy Medicine?
Lou, let me change the headline of this discussion for you:
3RR: Is It Fantasy Football Socialism?
Honestly, the goal of any high-stakes contest operator is to give everyone an equal shot at winning the grand prize, correct? I think most of us fantasy sports veterans will agree that the auction format is the perfect model as EVERY owner starts with the same exact dollar amount on Draft Day and the same FAAB amount. Nobody has an advantage.
But we have to admit that there is a slight advantage to certain spots in serpentine drafts, even though this is the most accepted model of drafting. If we can someone even the playing field a little bit, as high-stakes operators we should do it. You can call it socialism or innovation, it's your call. But hopefully 3RR DOES level the playing field of serpentine drafts a little bit more than just random selections. More importantly, maybe, it DEFINITELY will help the perception of an even playing field in a big 14-team format like ours.
Agree, or not?

The reason I think 3RR will be a "hit" is quite simply it is DIFFERENT. Other services over "all play", some do IDP's", the NFFC will be the innovator in 3RR, a concept which "levels the playing field like never before!
All of us here know that what TRULY separates the NFFC from other contests are the 14 team leagues and more importantly the outstanding customer service. It is easy for the "newbie" who is fishing for a new league to see there are 14 team leagues, but unless they filter through some posts, they don't know about the customer service.
The point to 3RR (as many have stated) is to "level the playing field". Many are saying it is a PERCEPTION of leveling the playing field, and that is EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. If the customer BELIEVES they are getting a "fairer drafting system" then honestly WHO CARES if it works???
That being said, the only way this system doesn't work is when the top 3-4 picks CONTINUALLY will flop for a period of 3 years or so, and although not all of the consensus "top 3-4" each year will finish there, based on history, we know MOST of the time they will finish near the top. Sure, there will ALWAYS be Westbrooks and Parkers you can get at the end of the first round, but now the decision is would you prefer one of them, or go with one of the top guys?
LaDanian Tomlinson had the most dominating year in fantasy football in quite some time. This led to people saying "the top of the draft has an unfair advantage" (which last year WAS true). To all the naysayers to 3RR, do you have any idea how FRESH the idea LT DOMINATING is in most people's minds??? Will there be ANY projections that do not have him as the #1 pick???? (barring an injury, I HIGHLY doubt it!) Off LT's record breaking season, the NFFC needs to be congratulated on "striking while the iron is hot" with the impementation of 3RR.
If the customer is HAPPY, that is the main thing here IMO. There are plenty of "standard" serpentine drafts out there, but the NFFC again is an innovator in what very well could be the greatest implementation in fantasy sports in quite some time!
I got a little carried away here, but it was the first day all year we got off for weather (just a little ice- gotta love VA! ), and I feel like I am in 5th grade again!
