LIVE SCORING....PLAYOFFS!

Post by Coltsfan » Sat Dec 11, 2010 5:51 am

Our plans are to keep everything manually in excel. It's a lot of work but at least we will know what is going on.

My main question is did you guys know that the live scoring wasn't going to be working for the playoffs or did this catch you off guard?

I didn't (hadn't been following the boards)

However, even if I did it's a little like asking if you knew that your wife was going to cheat - even if you knew it still makes you mad when she does.

no wayne did not know. greg and tom do a great job and do not want to bash them. but this is simply poor. it does not take much common sense to think that you would want to follow other teams. you play your season to try and get in the final round and this happens. its time to take greg and tom off the hot seat for once and let ryan give a reason this wasnt done and how it will be fixed. time to own up.

The reason is simple Frank. Programmers cost money. The Mom n Pop feeling we had from Greg and Tom has been largely replaced by Fanball's expense-cutting style. Their motto seems to be "only create or fix things that are absolutely broken" instead of "there are some basic minimum features that should be offered in competitions of this level".

Guys, I'm not sure why some people are able to see other people's lineups or Live Scoring and other owners aren't able to see them. I'll certainly ask and see if we can solve this. I can see every lineup for every contest and drill into every Live Scoring if needed. I understand the frustration from those who can't even do that. But the setup is supposed to let you see that much.

I understand that our competition has real-time overall scoring totals in the playoffs. I wish we had it this year and last year and the year before that, etc., but for various reasons involving our software we don't have that. Again, we've never had that in the NFFC even with STATS. Of course it's not ideal. It wasn't ideal during the regular season when we didn't have real-time standings either. I understand that.

It's not a cost-cutting situation. It's the way the back-end is set up. It's why we couldn't even get updated scoring totals on Monday morning during the regular season. I'll ask if there's any possible solution for Weeks 15 and 16, but I think the real-time scoring for the overall competitions will be tough to do.

Frank, you think I just asked now??? C'mon man. You sound like Snake. No, we can't do this for the same reasons we couldn't have real-time standings during the regular season. It involves the reasoning that we had to use the existing commissioner product for football to make sure everything ran smoothly this first year and going forward we'll hopefully have the time to build this real-time data out. But we can't do it now.

I'm responding because you asked. Not because this is new today.
