I don't think the injured player is as important as the missed opportunity of not having the chance to get any player for those two teams. The injured player is the obvious opportunity for a pick up but by week ten teams with new OCs really start clicking and handful of second year receivers start stepping up.
The strategy has a big change also. Players will have the opportunity to drop a player and know he will have zero value the next week. This is really big when building rosters for the playoffs if you are going to make it. If you are fighting for third place in your league you might be forced to make some choices about players that you might not otherwise do.
As I said in my previous post I am not for two full FAABs. Really pulling for the IT guys to make it work but I feel in a high stakes contest you have to be able to bid on players in all games. The hurricane games aside. There is nothing you can do there and in that situation the game is canceled AFTER FAAB.

I hear what everyone says and I agree with Wayne. FAAB is my least favorite part of the game, also because of the the huge time commitment needed when you play numerous leagues. (Wayne, you should try baseball. FAAB is even more brutal there.)
However, I play in another football contest that has two FAAB periods. It really doesn't add any time. The Wednesday FAAB period is where all the heavy bidding on breakout players takes place and is where the time is spent. By the Friday period, any decent free agent has already been gobbled up and that FAAB date is usually just utilized for late breaking injury news.
Also we should remember, we're only talking about 4 weeks of the season where this situation takes place. I support this message.

Either way, please try to open the FAAB as early as possible. The crippling part for me is to have the FAAB window open after the Monday night game and then the short opportunity before the window closes on Wednesday.
Thanks for any consideration.

Best of both worlds. Done, and done. I agree 100% with this.
Doesn't quite add the "burden" of another FAAB period, but if you are interested in someone playing Thursday.....it gives you options.

Nothing lost by eliminating the other 30 teams til Friday but if an owner can improve their chances of not taking a zero because of injuries...well I think we can all appreciate the value in that.

When our NFFC site goes live shortly, you'll notice that all of the rules for each contest has our FAAB setup the same as last year, with the last four FAAB periods moving to Wednesday of that week. That is not final at this point, just so everyone knows. We are still exploring the potential of a Wednesday FAAB period just for the teams involved in the Thursday game(s) and leaving the overall FAAB on Fridays of those final weeks.
Tom and I met with the STATS IT team two weeks ago and we went over our desires here. We still need to finalize some things before we officially change anything, so don't be shocked when you see the Rules pages. We still have time to either change this or tweak it slightly.
Our desire is what folks here have expressed: A Wednesday FAAB just for those teams involved on Thursday followed by a full FAAB on Friday. It's the cuts on Wednesday and a few other things that we need to discuss before we make a final decision. So bear with us a bit. Thanks all.
