Let's Try To Fix the Big Boston Classic Draft Mixup
I dont think it jeopardizes anything. Bad situation yes. First time yes. Solution will be in place for next year, yes. Play it out. No pick ups before this week. No making up rules as we go. Greg and Tom have the final say and done. Dont try to appease anyone. Do what you think is best, good luck:), and PLAY ON! Good luck to the 13 owners and if you get a gimme relish it because it doesnt happen often in the NFFC, LOL:) Again, PLAY ON.

Are you saying Mark Srebro should manage the team for free to test out Fanball's software? Now there's an actual idea that would hold some interest. Unless he entered the contest under a fake name or something already and I didn't get the memo.

In this Boston draft they went about as early as if the injuries never happened I believe. Earlier draft slots obviously have much more value. Let's face it, we'd both donate our left nut for an extra 5th rounder or 7th, or 8th where these injured guys were going while who cares if a 14th rounder is out for the year. Oh well, darn, it was a flyer anyway.
Just saying. It wasn't as bad as if someone came in and was like "Hey guys, I'm a big Rams fan, I'm taking all Rams today. leave SJax for me please at #9." Anyway, we are still right around the same spot as far as having an opinion of what should be done or not done, like many are saying. Thanks for thoughtfully chiming in. Thanks Craig and I hope you're doing well, but I'll tell you why I disagree with you here.
While I might not give my left nut for an extra 5th round pick (priorities my friend ), I will grant you that if everyone got an extra 5th rounder from one of these bad picks, it would have enormous effect on the overall.
However, that's not exactly the case in this situation. By taking Sidney Rice in the 5th, this team did not move his leaguemates up a full round, but in fact just one draft slot. Instead of 5.10, someone was actually choosing what in all practical purposes became 5.9. A benefit, sure. Contest altering, probably not. In addition, by the 9th or 10th round, where Sidney Rice was regularly being taken in other drafts, that slot was in essence normalized since Rice would have been taken by then anyway. This goes for VJ, TJ, etc.
Now granted, Avery & Tate likely wouldn't have been taken in any round, and Hardesty, Leinart, etc. probably not as well. Those picks however were in the teens, where picks are all over the map anyway, and likely didn't have a huge effect on the quality of the available player pool at that point. Most are taking their upside picks, handcuffs, kickers, & defenses during those rounds and the addition of 3 or 4 available players of that caliber shouldn't have a big effect on the chase for the grand prize.
Again, I agree there is an benefit. However, I believe it not to be that much greater than if you had one or two unprepared owners in your league and we've all seen that over and over again.
Hopefully, a decision on how to proceed is made in short order and we can all move on to the season, which should be a BLAST!
Good luck to everyone in this Boston league and all the other leagues. You'll need it, I plan on winning this thing.

If the current procedure is to draft the next best player, then that's the rule for every league. Perhaps next season, a rule is to be considered regarding this instance, however, if the rule is no different for anyone, then it's fair.
We're talking about one team out of hundreds. I don't see how it's advantage to anyone if every opponent of this team within it's league has a shot at it. In the overall, it's irrelevant and the opposing teams that can't get ahead of this team really don't deserve to win it. There's no advanatage in my opinion.

I am in the Boston league. Nothing happened as far as "stacking the league" since basically 3 or 4 picks his first 10 rounds were the only thing that might not have happened otherwise. Housh still got taken in plenty of leagues by the 10th round.
MJD-Greene-Romo-Wells-Celek-Housh-Hartley-Jets and 3 wasted picks in the first 10 rounds does not throw off the contest or the league by enough to worry about.
Vincent Jackson is not on IR and probably also got taken by the 10th round in a ton of leagues. Sidney Rice is a viable 10th or 11th round pick.
Hardesty and Avery were bad but can be dropped and waiver wire used...
Not a big deal imo.

As much as the way the situation was handled by the facilitator was repulsive and lacking common sense, which was apologized for by the person ( commendable), redrafting is a little over-the-top because every owner now knows everyone else's picks. It's honorable in it's idealism but just way too sketchy.
If the facilitator feels that his only mistake was not asking Greg Ambrosius for a ruling, he is missing the point entirely on what constitutes fair play. This was a no-brainer ruling that was not only whiffed on, but took a golden sombrero.
Fair play isn't the act of playing by the rules. Fair play is endlessly refining and INTERPRETING the rules in a fair way. Not everything is a black and white. There is no magic statical formula that you can publish about it. That is a strength that Greg Ambrosius clearly has and others don't. Hopefully the lesson sinks in.

I agree with SEB this can't be redrafted. I also think the affects of this draft on the overall competition won't be known until the end. I think the only problem with this draft was it was facillitated with a lack of common sense. Using the ADP was fine but drafting players on IR was downright stupid, and I'm being nice about it. The only "allowable" alternative in this situation IMHO is to allow the owner a FA day tomorrow to straighten this "mishap" out to allow for a legal starting lineup and then go forward with the league as is.

If there isn't a rule to bypass IR'd players, then how would it have been fair to make one up?
Not knowing the total situation (just going by what I see here on the MB) it seems the Facilitator followed the rules as written.
Pete has offered to manage this team to the end. If the rules allow it, I say go for it Pete.
Tough situation but to re-draft is not within the rules and is not the right call here.

It's kind of a dead issue now because it was decided to leave it as is, but to make a more abstract general comment I'm again shocked how many Colonel Jessups here that won't analyze a rule on the fly no matter how asinine it is. I'm guessing there an alterior motive for these people, like they know someone in the league, know Todd Zola or drafted in that league. Nobody is buying the horse manure deflections.
