Trendsetters is certainly a fitting name for this league. There are a LOT of new trends being set, and i think to a large degree will remain this way when we get closer. Good stuff by this tough crew of owners.

Here is round 4:

4.1 Kenny Britt
4.2 Vincent Jackson
4.3 Stevie Johnson
4.4 Eli Manning
4.5 Antonio Brown
4.6 Shonn Greene
4.7 Aaron Hernandez
4.8 Brandon Lloyd
4.9 Tony Romo
4.10 Phillip Rivers
4.11 Vernon davis
4.12 Michael Crabtree
4.13 Matt Ryan
4.14 Ahmad Bradshaw

My team through 3: Gronk, Fitzgerald and Charles

In the 4th I added a WR who I think will be more consistent and worth this draft pick, Crabtree (the 27th wr taken).

5th Round: 10 teams already have QBs and at my spot (22 picks before I get a turn again) if I don't take one now there is a good chance I am hurting if my league mates start doubling up. So I do the smart thing, say screw it and take Rookie #2.

Two of the next three picks were QBs and were on pick 5.8 with me picking next at 6.12. Looks like I may be starting a rookie QB!

I'm surprised so many folks heard the Sirius XM draft! I've gotten lots of comments, I thought it would get lost because it was in the middle of the afternoon.

I waited until my final choice was made in this initial 6-round phase of the Trendsetters draft so I could keep all my thoughts to one post.

I had the 2nd choice in KDS. I wanted one of the top 3 RB's, so I would have taken the 3-spot if still available. Wayne beat me to it, what else is new?
I took the 2-hole.

1 - Arian Foster would have been my 1st choice, but went first overall. I had Rice and McCoy ranked about evenly. I chose Ray Rice because the Ravens offense is built more around him while the Eagles are built around Vick. I'm banking that the Ravens would never let their franchise player walk.

2 - Seriously considered taking either Vick or Charles here as high risk/reward type picks, but decided I wanted to pair my Rice pick with a #1 type WR to give me more flexibility moving forward. Considered several receiver options, but ultimately decided on Mike Wallace as I believe the Steelers will continue to center their offense around the passing arm of Big Ben and Wallace is as dynamic as they come.

3 - Though I love 3RR, I hate it when I have an early pick. ;) Having chosen both a back & reciever with my first two picks, I was left to grab the best available player who fell to me. Considering I thought Marshawn Lynch would have gone earlier than the end of the 3rd, this was an easy pick for me. Something seemed to click in last year's playoffs and he's been pretty much a beast since. Considering we're likely moving to full PPR for backs, I would have loved if he caught a few more balls, but he did catch 47 a few years back, so the skills are there. Need him to return to Seattle for this pick to return full value.

4 - I really struggled over this pick. Picking very close to the turn, I really thought I needed to go QB here. The consensus top 5 and Vick were gone, but the entire next tier of solid choices was still there. I have that tier about 5 or 6 deep...but for now I have them rated pretty evenly and I hate choosing the top player of a tier. Still, I would have chose a QB here if Vincent Jackson weren't still available. I loved the idea of slotting a stud like him in the #2 receiver spot in a format which forces you to start 3 receivers each week. The Trendsetters being a DC league further solidified the choice in my mind as Jackson's inconsistent production would be minimized in a best ball total points format. Later that day I read that it's unlikely that Jackson returns to SD, which can further increase his value if he lands on the right team as I don't believe Rivers passing style worked to Jackson's strengths this year.

5 - None of the QB's in the tier I was hoping would make it back to me did. It was a pipe dream anyway. I therefore made a decision to double up on QB here if two huge risk/reward players I saw out there made it back to me. If not, I would continue to pass on the position and revisit it during the next phase of the draft in a month. They both did. The first was Peyton Manning .

6 - The second was Tim Tebow .

With the first phase of the Trendsetters draft in the books, I do like the looks of my team, even if I may have created a lot of unneeded risk. I've drafted a solid core of backs and receivers which I believe may give me an edge there. However, I have tremendous risk at the QB position, the most important position in the NFFC. If both these QB's crap out, almost definately my team will crap out as well.

thanks for posting all of this.

I know Peyton is ranked around 10-12 right now (and if he plays, i would rank him there too), but I don't think I could draft him that high. More like 16-18 given the huuuge health risk he is.

Well, I am covering in school suspension during last period and since we are on the cusp of a weekend......time to give a write up of my draft selections......

I had the 6th pick...

1ST- QB DREW BREES

This year there seems like there will be the 3 RB's, Calvin, Aaron, and Drew. Brees is Brees, and in a DC is solid gold as I don't have to burn a 6th or 7th rounder on my 2nd QB.

2ND- WR GREG JENNINGS

A lot of WR's I liked here, but Jennings has fantasy's #1 QB throwing to him, Finley can't catch a cold, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say Jordy won't score 15 TD's again.

3RD- WR MILES AUSTIN

I have a feeling he may be undervalued this season. Sure, he had the hammy and Laurent Robinson came on, but I still think this is Romo's "guy". Witten is a year older, and Dez is wasted talent.

4TH- RB SHONN GREENE

I didn't like this guy before the year, but LT has seemed to fade into the sunset, and Shonn actually caught 30 passes last year. Seeing that Dirty Sanchez is behind center, I could see Ryan doing everything possible to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible (i.e handoffs!)

5TH- TE ANTONIO GATES

Yes, he is older, but he came back after his injury and was still very good. If VJax leaves, I think it will only be more targets for him next year.

6TH- RB REGGIE BUSH

Used to hate him, but he certainly looked better in teal and orange. Good YPC, still catching balls, and getting the ball at the stripe. Plus, Daniel Thomas sucks IMO. ;)

So far I am very happy with this team, but I have learned that in this draft EVERYTHING can change, and like most DC's with this type of competition, it isn't won in the first 6 rounds.

After 6 rounds,

QBs: 17 drafted - 4 teams have 2, one team has yet to pull the trigger and the rest have one so far.

RBs: 25 drafted, 1 team has none, 4 have 1, 7 teams have 2, 1 team has 3 and 1 team has 4 (no WRs or TEs)

WRs: 30 drafted, 1 team has none, 1 has 1, 8 have 2, 3 have 3, 1 has 4

TEs: 10 off the board with Gronk and Graham going in the 1st round, 8 teams have 1, 1 team has 2 and 5 teams have yet to get their guy at this position.

Rookies: 2 teams have 1 each. Our rookie draft will take place right after the NFL draft.

After 6, my team is as follows:

1.12 Gronkowski (1st TE taken)
2.3 Larry Fitzgerald (5th WR taken)
3.3 Jamall Charles (10th RB taken)
4.12 Michael Crabtree (27th WR taken)
5.3 Rookie #2
6.12 Jay Cutler (QB 16 taken) I think the Bears are going to do what they should have done a couple of years ago and that is adding one or two solid FAs at WR.

Taking a Rookie instead of filling an actual position builds in some fun and maybe a little flexibility to this draft. I am down at one position right now and I don't even know which one. I may go QB or RB or WR, I just don't know and since I pick second in the rookie draft, I can't really plan too much. It all depends on where these kids end up. Will whoever I pick be worth the 5th round slot or would my team be better off with Spiller, Reggie or Michael Bush?
