Slow Drafts Need A New Name

Is there any reason why these leagues do not go 17 weeks? Too many NFL teams sit their starters in Week 17, thus creating too much of a luck factor in the final results. Just look at last season when the Packers sat Aaron Rodgers for the final game. If the NFFC went 17 full weeks, I'm not sure we'd be rewarding the best fantasy team because so many of the top stars sit out that final week. The best teams seem to be determined in fantasy football after 16 weeks. I'm not sure there is a national fantasy football contest that goes through all 17 weeks for the same reasons I've stated above.

It looks like you have your mind made up with the draft n hold. For sure an improvement over slow draft but I believe Draft 'n Done has a nice alliteration to it and better connotation.

You draft and you're done. You don't even have to look at it again if you don't want to since the software manages the roster's best scores..

That also can be said about some of my baseball teams  After reading the responses I agree with Steve's idea of Draft 'n Done. The "hold" portion of the first idea seems to indicate a "keeper" league of some kind.

Just my $.02

Pete
Pete I agree, when I first read the name I thought the NFFC was going to have keeper leagues.
We definitely don't want the perception that these are Keeper Leagues. In fact, this format couldn't be further from that format!! We're having some Marketing meetings today and will see if we can finalize this name. In our NFBC format, you actually do Draft 'n Hold because there you still need to fill out a weekly starting lineup. In the NFFC format, you don't even do that. You just draft and then watch the computer give you the best starting lineup every week. So as Steve has noted, there is a difference here.

Draft & Done Leagues is possible. Let's see what the Marketing gurus say today and I'll give you an update. Again, thanks for all your feedback.

Slow Drafts Need A New Name

I think sometimes you can try to be too cute and not be as effective than if you just stuck to the basics. That's the case here with the renaming of the Slow Drafts.

We have a very good name for this format in Draft Champions and everyone agreed that this is the perfect name for this contest. They are DRAFT CHAMPIONS. The best drafter wins. Plain and simple. How easy is that?

We are renaming our Slow Drafts the Draft Champions National Championship and you can draft slow or fast or inbetween. We don't care!! :D We just know that the BEST DRAFTER will be the CHAMPION!!! DRAFT CHAMPIONS!! I like it.

Our similar format for live private DC leagues will be called Draft Champions Live events. We'll get all of this updated on the relaunch of our site and get the ball rolling on our first Draft Champions draft shortly. Let the Games Begin!!

Slow Drafts Need A New Name

Actually, regarding the Slow Draft format, when you say "you can draft slow or fast...", yes, each PICK can be done at any pace, but the entire DRAFT is definitely much slower. So I can't make the whole DRAFT fast if I want; I can only make my pick fast. Then we're at the mercy of the rest of the league, which could take minutes, hours or days to get back to my next pick.

Calling the slow draft "Draft Champions National Championship" in no way suggests that the DRAFT is any different from regular DC leagues; it only indicates that it's a national contest (similar to Classic/Primetime vs. Satellites). And calling the "regular" DCs "DC Live..." doesn't seem to drive home the difference either because Slow DCs are "live" too (each person goes in "live" when it's their turn and makes their pick). The opposite of "live" might be one of those drafts where you preset your rankings then the software divvies up all the players according to each owner's rankings.

I thought the purpose of this thread was to try to come up with a name that differentiated Slow DCs from regular DCs?

Sandman is making a good point. This draft championship should be seperated from the normal draft champions leagues. It IS a draftchampions format with a "slow draft" process.

Find a way to combine the term "slow draft" with "draft champions" and you've got your name. People are just getting familiar with the slow drafts. If you veer off too much, you'll be explaining exactly what this contest is, all summer.

Here's my bid:

"Slow DraftChampionship"
*Ranked #1 Average Fantasy Football Player in the Nation 2004-2013

"Fantasy sports are all about LUCK. Except when I win."

sorry if this was already answered: is there now a "1 choice queue" option, where you can queue up exactly 1 player....?

Yes, there is a One Round Auto button where you can que up just the players you want for that round. It will pick the top available player from your que immediately and keep the draft moving. If it comes back to you quickly, you will be back on the clock for 8 hours. It worked perfectly for baseball and it is ready to go right away for football. Good luck.
