Hey Mr. Ambrosius,
Sorry to use your board to warn people about the WCOFB...but I was reading so much misinformation-propaganda about the WCOFB that I felt compelled to give the other side.
How anyone can defend a league that has people listed on their free agent list who are NOT free agents....well I feel sorry for people who can't figure out how wrong that is.
Another tidbit...one of the players from my roster was listed on the WCOFB free agent list for about a month...the whole time he was on my roster, but I suppose that'd be ok to some folks too....
I've NEVER had that problem with the NFBC. Mr. Ambrosius, you guys run a first rate league....and I KNOW WHEN I SEE A FREE AGENT LISTED IN THE NFBC THAT THE PLAYER IS ACTUALLY A FREE AGENT...I know that sounds obvious to you Mr. Ambrosius...but trust me it certainly wasn't that way in the WCOFB.
Wanted to provide the counter-point to all of the WCOFB propaganda. I feel the WCOFB is horribly mismanaged. Now newcomers have more information to digest when deciding what league(s) to participate or not participate in.
If you play WCOFB and enjoy it...GREAT. But there is really another side that needed to be put forth, especially for people who have not yet participated in the WCOFB.
NFBC or WCOFB....NO CONTEST....NFBC is where I'm staying because the leagues are run professionally, and I appreciate that.

Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

I never said that the WCOFB game was a better alternative to NFBC. For all the reasons that I joined NFFC, I'll be in NFBC next year.
I just wanted to be fair to the other contest and say that nobody was screwed over that took the time to read the arcane, complex, and generally screwed up rules.

Where in the WCOFB rules does it say players from your roster will be listed as free agents while on your roster ?
We tried to pick up Ramon Hernandez. He was on the WCOFB free agent list....later we found out he was already on a team. Is that in the WCOFB rules ?
We tried to pick up Chase Utley. Utley was listed on the WCOFB free agent list. later we found out we couldn't have him because he was already on a team. Is that in the WCOFB rules ?
A catcher we were starting was listed on the WCOFB free agent list for almost a month....while we were playing him. Is that in the WCOFB rules ?
I'm giving specific examples. You counter with vague blanket statements. I'm glad you enjoy the WCOFB.....but there are 2 sides....and I didn't see the other side being presented. Now it has been

Sorry. I guess I should have included: “not that there is anything wrong with that.”
Anyone that follows the boards has to take a Gekko heckling with a grain of salt.

i think in an effort to save time/space, "gekko heckling" will now officially be known as:
"geckling"
"geckling"

I'm afraid you better make it 'gekkling' - he doesn't use a 'ck' in his moniker.

The Wonderful thing about Dyv's is I'm the only one!

you can go either way -- the ck could be from the heckling part. If you'd like, we can start a new thread to discuss this.

Did you say Gordo could “go either way.” (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

Hell and JerseyPaul,
I can vouch for both sides. The first year of WCOFB went off without any major problems, largely because TQ Stats ran the league. Everything was well organized and the site was user friendly. When WCOFB failed to reach expectations the second year, they decided to take on a sponser and use The Sporting News commissioner site. Whether it was due to poor communications, desperation, compatibility, or many other reasons, WCOFB and TSN was a disastrous marriage. Both sides are not happy with each other, and us participants are the ones affected the most. And yes, the August 1st rule of excluding dropped players from the free agent list and the requests to add "eligible" players were not part of the rules in the first season. I believe the Halladay fiasco had something to do with the rule changes.
Anyhow, I think it's safe to say that after two seasons of 45 participants, WCOFB will struggle to exist next season. The NFBC has and continue to be the standard for high stakes FBL. See y'all in Vegas on March 19th.
