That is my position. Discuss. mathmatically 1 in 12 or 1 in 14 (I like 1 in 12 odds of winning as it would be easier )
But who said anything about all owners being the same in ability? If thats the case ... lets just draw straws for the money!
There is more strategy and less luck in a league with more teams ... period. If we had a league with 8 teams ... we would all have plenty of studs and no one would be making the tough choices of RB,RB,WR,WR,QB or RB,WR,WR,RB,WR ... we would just take who we want until we all had 12 studs and than we would all sit around and hope we played the right guys on Sunday. Hmmm I'll play SA ... but do I go with Williams, McGahee or Bush at RB2.
OK ... maybe it would be harder to pick the guys you have to play each week in a league with less teams
... but with more teams ... you need to have already thought out contingencies before they happen. You can't dial back to RB4 if RB2 goes down and RB3 is in a platoon situation.
Think about it ... if 14 and 12 are no different ... than neither is 12 and 6. Anyone up for a six team league? Ewwwww ... that would be a hard draft ... maybe we could all just take a couple players at a time when it's our pick so we can get the draft over with so we can do something else more fun? Yea ... 14 and 12 are no different ... Your killin me here Nag!

14 Team Leagues vs. 12 Team Leagues
The above post assumes same starting positions in each league and NFFC scoring ... obviously if you only needed to start 1 RB and 2WR's in the 14 team league or have a TD only scoring in one of the leagues it changes everything and would be a whole different question. That was just NFFC 12 vs 14.
Also ... shame on you Rick ... for agreeing to that!

That's a difference of 36 players, equivalent to 3 more teams in a 12 team league. How can this not make it easier?? Again, we are talking about adept drafters, not inept. And I know every league is comprised of both. Patrick...you points are well taken, but in all fairness to the "other" league, their draft lasts 20 rounds instead of 18, so the total players drafted in that format is 240 instead of 216.

BBDS is exactly what you think it is. The format has merit and will be tried in some satellite leagues. For now, we are allowing each owner to use the Kentucky Derby Style for our main event, Draft Champions Leagues and Satellite Leagues, which still has random drawing of the draft spots but then allows you to rank your spot preferences. Unfortunately, the top 3-4 random draw winners will likely take the top 3-4 draft spots this year. But it's a step in the right direction. [/QB]I believe BBDS would be a significant improvement to the contest, but in its intial stages you might have a problem with implementation. Obviously the difficulty wouldn't come in mechanics, but rather complexity. That is as new contestants considered the contest this would throw in an additional wrinkle that some prospective clients might either not understand, not be willing to take the time to understand or be concerned they were at a disadvantage because of their lack of understanding(experience). If an efficient way of overcoming these obstacles could be implemented, it would seem this adds great differentiation and value (at, I believe, minimal cost)to this contest. The differentiation may not last long as, I suspect, it would be copied once the concept was introduced. But, your plan to initially introduce it into limited satellites is probably warranted.

12 and 14 are (apparently ) too close in numbers to see the obvious difference ... compare 12 to 6 and tell me there is no difference in draft difficulty ... and I'll run to get in the next satellite you draft in (assuming you really can't see the difference between 12 and 6 )

To answer RIFF's observations above, this is exactly what Greg has told us as to why he is not ready to implement BDDS in the Main Event but to let people get used to it in the satellites. GEKKO led the charge at the end of year 1 to give this a try and implemented it in his satellite league last year. We have not heard 1 negative comment from anyone who played in that satellite league and a fair amount of owners are wanting to get involved with it this year.

14 Team Leagues vs. 12 Team Leagues
My opinion: 14 teams is our "trademark"; I wouldn't change that.
My next thought (and it is only a thought right now, I am not committed to the idea yet) is something like this in the Kentucky Derby Style Leagues. Draft Choice below stands for the choice you were given and not the Draft Position you selected:
Draft Choice FAB $$
1 350
2 400
3 450
4 500
5 550
6 600
7 650
8 700
9 750
10 800
11 850
12 900
13 950
14 1000
Just a thought. But it adds something to even the slate a bit.
