GEKKO BRINGS IT - Draft slots not equal
The only correct thing on topic in this whole thread was the comment about sample size not being big enough to be significant.
Let me add a second conclusion. Injuries and unexpected factors play far too great a role to use any season, much less a half-a-season, as conclusive data. What if Priest goes down for the rest of the year? All of those #1 or #2 picks go down with him. What if Ogden misses the rest of the season for Bal - what does that do for those that picked Jamal #1? What if Bettis goes down and Duce gets all the goal line carries? Each year will be significantly skewed based on which players, and supporting players, went down with injury or under-performed expectations. Conclusion: The data doesn't matter. You cannot "prove" that all slots are equal, nor can you prove that they are not.

[/QUOTE]KJ, There's no fighting a stubborn person. he'll just fluff that question off like everyhing else. you know, the same ole blah blah blah, 12 teams, blah blah blah, let me pick my draft position, blah blah blah, in another league with different scoring and different setup, blah blah blah there is a better setup, blah blah blah.....
The bottom line, the data show this is the most fair event out there. Every draft position has a chance to win this. Things are very good, any changes could hurt the event, not help it.
Gek, even though you are trying to put a point out there, you fail to see both sides of each arguement. The data shows that this event is the most fairest one out there, Greg downgraded the RB by giving a .5 per reception, increased QB by using 20 yds/point and 6 pts a TD. These were items discussed at length in WCOFF over the years. And yes, I was part of those discussions too.

But that doesn't mean there aren't things that can be tweaked to minimize luck and randomness. you may need to open your mind to other ideas.

For Christ's sake...END it, already. The league is what it is, so go on and deal with it. I would like a few changes too, but the pontification on this is unbearable. Gekko makes some good points, as do the others. Greg and Tom set the rules and we all agreed to the draft format and league structure. We can't bitch on it now that some of us are not meeting our own expectations. No one put a gun to our heads and said "join this league."
This comes from a born leader -- not a sheep -- who happens to be sitting at TWO and friggin' FIVE. For whatever reason, this just ain't my year in fantasy football. I'm in 7 leagues, and already out of it in 4 of them. No ones fault but my own dumb-ass. Although, I'm doing quite well in my main, big money keeper league, in which I managed to trade Charlie Garner, Kelly Holcombe and Tommy Maddox for Terrell Owens last season. THAT was fun.

See, no draft slot effect.... much Now I will add the results for the Gekko Invitational Satellite. This league is a very competitive group of actives on the message board. No Dead Money here.

Nope, definately no slot effect.
For the curious, the 4 slot team took the underachieving Clitoris Portis in round 1 and the oft injured Steven Davis in round 2. What it shows is that you can screw up a good slot, but it's tough to overcome a bad slot.
In the DC I was the 11 slot and currently in 11th.
In the Gekko, I was the 2 slot and currently 1st in record, but not first in points.
