Thanks for the info Tamu...I'll email you about it if/when the time comes around. Hopefully NewYork Union labor starts making money again. It's extremely hard to compete with a truck full of mexicans who will work for muy poco dinero.

Billy, I was a season ticket holder from 2000 thru 2003, the first two down in the lower level and the last two in the upper deck. Was there for the 2002 and 2003 games you went to with my father-in-law. Favorite restaurants in New Orleans are Ralph & Kacoos (best shrimp au gratin on the planet), Venezia's (best veal and Italian food at the corner of Carrolton and Canal) and Cafe Maspero on Decatur Street (best lunch menu on the planet). I'm still working on getting Greg to have a 4th city draft in New Orleans in 2008 as by then all of these places will be up and running. The connections that Derek (Lumpy's Losers), Gerard, my partner in the NFFC, and myself have down there could make it a fun and inexpensive weekend, especially since the majority of the crime got shipped to Houston and San Antonio.

I know about the Hispanic problems you are talking about, Diesel, as being in the construction business, I have had my fair share of dealings with the Immigration Department. This is why I want to run for president as no one in DC seems to have the b*lls to stand up and put a stop to it. It seems both parties are afraid of losing votes while we are more afraid of losing a city to nukes coming in from the south.
It would be great to have you up in the stands with me all season as the Dome rocks.

And Snake, be nice and don't rain on my dream parade, a Mardi Gras float with the Super Bowl champion N.O. Saints with me as the king of Mardi Gras and Jessica Simpson as my queen. Plus all of the NY/CHI league teams, the 3-city league teams, and Greg and Tom. Talk about a party now with you and Billy on the same float. :D :D

I can't believe you mentioned Ralph & Kacoo's. My wife and I were just talking about that place the other day. I just remember the food was excellent, and there was this couple about to kill each other sitting next to us. Great restaurant!

A couple other places we liked were The GUmbo Shop and Napoleans. Napoleans "muffaleta" was simply awesome!

Actually the food was great, but I really think that Dixie is some of the best beer I have ever had! I brought a six pack back the last time we went down, but have yet to find it ANYWHERE here in Virginia.

Dixie is definitely a local brew and the family and I ate at the Ralph & Kacoos in Baton Rouge last weekend when I was in and it was great. I will have to hit the other two places you mentioned as it has been a while since we were down in the Quarter. I just wish they would start settling homeowner issues down there so I could start looking at some property down there to invest in. The politicians there are so lost it is amazing. The mayor put a 4 month moratorium on building permits that is keeping people from rebuilding their homes and then goes on tv with that lost cause we have for a governor blaming the president. What a clown act. Maybe I should run for governor down there before I make my presidential bid. :D

I'm going home next weekend and then to Baltimore the following weekend so if you want me to pick you up a case of Dixie to drop off on the way to Baltimore just let me know.

I'm not sure what it's like on the commercial side because I'm a residential custom home builder. I remember when the tide started turning to favor the Mexican work force though.

I tried to avoid it at first because of the language barrier. I still don't understand why I (a life long American citizen) need to bend over backwards to learn to communicate with immigrants.

Anything to get a vote I guess.

Around here it is nearly impossible to hire American born roofers or drywallers. This work force evolution wouldn't have been possible if the current American work force wasn't so lazy.

I'm not including everyone (I'm sure you're a hard working guy) but you know the type: wants to make as much $$$ as possible while doing as little as possible and assuming as little responsibility as possible.

Don't know if that's true in the union but it definately is in my market. The Mexicans have simply taken over by out working the Americans.

My drywaller and roofer are both American but their work force is Mexican. I don't pay any less so it's not a money issue for me like you were talking about. BTW - what trade are you - carpenter/electrician...?

I have to agree with you, Jeff, as Americans are more into wanting to manage the work rather than get dirty doing it these days. If I had to make a guess I would say 5% of the 6% unemployed don't want to work but want a paycheck. This goes back to the story of the street beggers who are living better than most by taking in $200 a day on a street corner tax free.

I don't put you in that group Marc simply because the crafts the Mexicans are prevalent in does not include the technical crafts, electrical, pipe, welding, ironworkers, boilermakers, instrumentation, but certainly the civil, insulation, and paint crews in my company are predominantly Hispanic. The Mexican government is so two-faced when talking about this as on the one hand they are complaining because they are losing the majority of their age 21-40 work force to the U.S. but they aren't doing anything to stop it and are in fact promoting it. We'd almost be better off to just annex Mexico as a handful of new states and tax the su*kers.

I'm a Union electrician. In NY, you have to understand that you'll be working until you're 62 to collect a pension. So you have to make sure you do the job. Do it right. And keep yourself healthy.

The problem with the Mexicans is that they have no pension and mostly don't even have benefits. They work as hard as they can until they drop. Then the companies find another mexican to take his place. They are extremely hard workers, however, Unions have fought hard to get a prevailing wage and benefits and a pension so that the members can give their heart and soul to the business and know that their family will be taken care of. Since the mexicans don't get any benefits or pension, they can work for MUCH less than union work. Now as a businessman, if you have a choice of paying to get a 20 story building renovated for say $140,000, or $80,000, simple business says if the work is up to code, you'll take the $80,000 route. It works for the businessman, but not for union labor. It's an extremely tough situation.

The most ridiculous thing about all of this, is that this is just a short term fix for businessmen to make a buck, because if all Unions go under due to this problem, don't you think eventually all the mexicans will unite and form their union to protect their workers? Then they get the same pay that we gave up due to their downgrading...

Then I'll be working at the local Publix Supermarket while the mexican that took my job 5 years ago is coming in to buy a dozen filet mignons for his bar-b-que that he's throwing for his house party to celebrate his purchase of his brand new 4 bedroom home.

OK, I'm done complaining... :D
