My first Auction also and KJ, BigMo, Capt Hook and others were pleased to give me a lesson...lol. It was a lot of fun and I'm only a couple quality waiver wire RB's away from competing. :D Nice meeting you in person Rich, your team certainly doesn't like the work of an auction rookie. Not a lot of depth, but I don't think anyone is gonna look forward to playing you if you have a healthy Chad, S Smith, Branch and R Moss going.

Selvin Young(last $7 that should've been spent better)

WR:A.Johnson,Branch,Bennett,Curtis,Holmes,
Jones(GB)

TE:Witten

K:Rackers

D:Chargers

Thoughts? This was my first live auction. Good first effort Patrick.
A few thoughts - since you asked
1) This would be a much better team in a DC league, but you are going to have to come up with a lot of good lineup guesses.
2) I think your WR need to be stronger - my guess is you needed to spend a little more for starters and a little less for bench players.

But IF Kevin Jones is a big contributor and Santonio Holmes comes up as big as many of us think he will, you should be in good shape.

[/QUOTE]WRs look good to me, I'd be worried more about not having a single starting RB.

Kickers and Defense doesnt' matter.

i wanted more depth at RB, but i like my team. our league was tough.. no good receivers went for less then 35 What do you mean kickers and defense doesn't matter?

You have Minnesota and Longwell, I have Chicago and Wilkins.

I would say about 80 points difference may matter! ;)

That being said, our auction WAS tough, but a lot of fun.

Nice meeting you Weber! :D

WCOFF'ers don't get that a Defense acutally matters in fantasy football.

Res- T.Hunt

Bye weeks will be a problem, but you have 2 nice RB's and a QB to lean on, so you should be OK.

After I spent close to 70 dollars on S. Alexander last year, I decided this year I wasn't going to get one of the BIG RB's.
Instead I got one who could finish there if everything goes right (Bush-$54). :D

I'd take some auction thoughts if anyone is willing to offer.

I'm still struggling with valuing WR. I do a poor job of it overall and I think it showed in my auction squad. I got burned on Phil Rivers for $15 when i later scooped Vince Young for $6 - so $21 on QB there and the excess RB vs. a better WR corps was a big mistake imho. That extra $10-ish in WR would make me feel a lot better about the potential.

Any other mistakes from me?

QB:
Rivers $15
Vince Young $6

RB:
LJ $63
R. Brown $33
Tatum Bell $21
Kevin Jones $6
V. Morency $7
J. Chatam $5

WR:
Calvin Johnson $15
Joe Horn $8
Eddie Kennison $3
Northcutt $2
E. Wilford $1
Roydell Williams $6 (final player, had $6 left)

TE:
Ben Watson $4

K: Mare $2, Kasay $1

D: MIA $2

Thanks for any comments, good, bad & ugly.

Dyv,

I have never met you, but I have heard you are a hell of a nice guy!

Here we go.....

Calvin Johnson isn't even starting and Joe Horn has no business being anymore than a #3 (and that is if you are stacked elsewhere).

Ben Watson is an average TE in fantasy.

As for your QB's they are similar in how they should produce which leads to the nerve racking "look at the matchups and who do I start this week game". The bright side is that you are good if injuries rear their ugly head, and you realize the mistake you made here (we all make them, you just have to learn from them).

Your RB's are solid, but I personally am not sold on Detroit OR Miami's running game. That being said, you did a nice job securing the backups.

If you want honesty, I think it is a serious longshot for you to make the playoffs, because you need WR's in this format (most of the time) to do well.

I wish the best of luck and am glad to see you are back in the NFFC! :D

Dyv - agree, overpaid for Rivers
- Don't like LJ and Kennison as two of your key wk/wk starters on what could be a bad offensive KC team. Could've had nearly as good and possibly better RB1 for $10 less
- Calvin has upside to be a WR1, but relying on him as your #1 is a bad idea; with no depth a reliable scorer (or even two $7's) would make more sense.
- T Bell/K Jones/Morency for $34 looks good

Think you're gonna need some deft acrobatics in the waiver pool and some fortunate scheduling to stay in this one Dyv.
