Q LOL... I remember one year in the '80's we added a punter to the game. I loved the rule. A pt for inside the 20 punts and 1 pt bonus at 45 and 50 averages.

It was a lot of fun watching to see if they could down the ball when close to the goal line.

Owners didn't like the extra work...
[/QUOTE]that's a shame. Punters are untapped fantasy joy ! Get me a FATHEAD of this guy !

BWaz, I think my first year had Terry Allen, Art Monk, Andre Reed, Andre Rison, Haywood Jeffries...Can't remember much more...I was also 18-19 and partying like there was no tomorrow. Now, partying to me is watching the Mets in game 7 in my living room with a bag of Tostitos. WOOHO!

+ 5pts for crazy rant after game in a loss (only if team wins the following game) :D

Although ... Denny Green should get bonus points for firing his Offensive Coordinator after his special teams are the ones that blew the game for him. Maybe he just forgot who the Special teams coach was or what each coach was actually responsible for?

My two cents: The defensive scoring feels about right with an average team at 8-9 points per week, a good team maybe 10-11, and a great team 12+. I think Chicago so far is way out of the norm and will not continue to score at 19 per game.

I do have a suggested refinement on the points allowed scoring. I would prefer these point be more directly computed. I'm not a big fan of the point ranges. A team giving up 13 gets the same 2 points as a team giving up 17. I also think 12 points is a little strong for a shutout. It almost feels like a bonus, sort of the way some leagues give extra points for going over 100yds, etc.

Couldn't the scoring for points allowed be based on a formula: 10 minus (Points Allowed/2)? That way a shutout is 10 and you are subtracting a half point for each point allowed until 20 points is worth 0 (and don't go negative). 10 PA is worth 5, 14 PA is worth 7. Just a thought. Thanks.

Wouldn't 14PA = 3?

I changed to this three years ago. Guys really liked it.

I'd suggest SO at 14, and take 1 pt off for each pt against.

FF Addict,

Great idea! I agree completely, this would be a change that would align defensive score with those of the other positions. I love the fact that every yard counts in this league...why shouldn't we have the same kind of scoring for DF. Great call...I hope that Greg likes and adopts it!

OOPS!! Thanks UFS for catching my math error. 14 points allowed would be worth 3 points. I got in a hurry. I'm a Financial Analyst by the way, so don't tell anyone I did that.

Couldn't the scoring for points allowed be based on a formula: 10 minus (Points Allowed/2)? Worth considering. I think the idea behind having the "scoring range" approach is that holding a team to a lower total is progressively harder to accomplish and should be rewarded more.

You could combine the two concepts (continuous and non-linear), but then people would have to do algebra while drinking beer! Imagine the backlash THAT would cause. ;)

I have the Atlanta Falcons defense... Yes that is true, sometimes. (and a very good point)

I never make suggestions or complaints because of my specific team. Never. ("Can't we have an IR position? I have SA and...boo-hoo." or "I got a bad draft position last year, can't we try...")

I have ATL def also.
Big whoop.
Def get too many points here.
Wether I have ATL or not.
Holding a team to 17 should not be rewarded.
