Here are some thoughts and observations about Week 4 as I wonder how much the people who took Ryan Tannehill over Tom Brady, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton are hating life right about now.
Let’s start with the Dolphins. I’ve been quite vocal about my feelings regarding Tannehill so I won’t go any further there. I was no fan of head coach Joe Philbin but the problems run deeper than his inability to be a quality head coach. This team isn’t fundamentally sound and does not have an identity on either side of the ball. What is really needed is a complete and total gut job. If ever there was a team begging to be blown up and rebuilt it’s the Dolphins.
OK I do have one thing to say about Tannehill. I’m not sure whose pocket presence was worse on Sunday, his or Colin Kapernick’s. Two guys who generally had no feel for the game whatsoever playing the most important position on the field.
I’m not sure I’ve seen a guy go from great to horrific as quickly as Ryan Fitzpatrick did in London. He could’ve had a huge game against Miami if he could’ve just thrown many of his passes somewhere in the same area code as his receivers.
Accuracy is kind of important Ryan.
I’m gonna keep puffing my chest out about Andy Dalton until he makes me wish I’d never even heard his name.
FEAR THE RED RIFLE
Jeremy Hill – 40 yards rushing. 3 touchdowns. Isn’t fantasy football great?
If you started Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham this week I’m guessing you’re having a difficult time figuring out what in the hell just happened.
OK with Brown we know Mike Vick happened.
Hello there Todd Gurley. Nice to see you on the RB1 radar for the rest of the season.
If you’re a Gurley owner and didn’t see the game I strongly recommend trying to find a highlights package. It’s gonna give you the warm and fuzzies.
Remember when Jeff Fisher had Eddie George in Tennessee and things were pretty darn good most of the time? Could be a lot like that in St. Louis now with Gurley.
Gurley’s gonna make that whole offense better. Nick Foles isn’t anything special at quarterback but he won’t need to be to make the play-action game work. Not with the Fear of Gurley defenses will be contending with each week.
I feel bad for Tre Mason. I think he’s a solid NFL running back. But he’s gonna be spending most of his Sundays on the sidelines now. He needs to find a new home.
The Lions elected to line Calvin Johnson up against Richard Sherman on several plays last night and absolutely refused to utilize Ameer Abdullah in space other than one play. I’m shocked they lost a winnable game with a strategy that sound.
Shocked, I tell you.
Just shocked.
A controversial ending on Monday night in Seattle against an NFC North opponent? Oh sure, like that’ll ever happen.
One of these weeks Jameis Winston is going to get Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson on the same page in the same game and the results are gonna be glorious.
I just have no idea when.
Hey Sam Bradford would it kill you to throw touchdowns to people some of us care about? And by people I mean Jordan Matthews.
Damn.
Phil Rivers is a gamer.
Even with San Diego’s offensive line issues I thought Melvin Gordon would have a strong game against a terrible Cleveland run defense. Ummm … Whoops?
Speaking of Cleveland, Duke Johnson just might be for real.
Hold on, a kicker just missed an easy field goal or an extra point.
It doesn’t even matter which kicker. It’s happening everywhere. It’s an epidemic.
For much of last season I implored the Falcons to use Devonta Freeman more and Steven Jackson less but I sure didn’t see this coming. Wow.
I mean WOW.
To the bench you go Carlos Hyde. Ain’t your fault but your team just stinks.
If you started your draft going C.J. Anderson, Brandin Cooks and Golden Tate I really hope your fourth-round pick has panned out. No really I do.
Good thing Roddy White has a weekly show on Sirius XM. Just want to be sure he actually has something to do each week to keep him active.
Dear Thomas Rawls – you aren’t the answer in Seattle if Marshawn Lynch can’t get back on the field soon.
With Steve Smith out, the Ravens are done to Kamar Aiken and me at wide receiver. Gotta believe Justin Forsett is about to get a HUGE uptick in pass targets. How can he not? He’s pretty much all they got.
Hey Frank Gore, WTF? Seriously, WTF?
Hold on Cario Santos just kicked another field goal.
There simply isn’t a more underutilized stud talent in the NFL than Travis Kelce. At this point, Kelce owners just have to accept that and not hope a change is coming. It ain’t. It just ain’t.
Alex Smith throwing for nearly 400 yards without a touchdown is one of the most Alex Smith things ever.
If you’re a team with playoff aspirations and have a glaring running back need and don’t trade for Matt Forte you deserve to suffer.
And yes Jerry Jones I’m talkin to you.
If the Cowboys trade for Forte now, get Dez back in a month and Tony Romo back in Week 11 who’s stopping that offense down the stretch? How is this even a question?
Peyton Manning is tied for 27th among quarterbacks in NFFC scoring.

Sorry, I had to type that twice because I can’t believe it.
Drew Brees’ shoulder injury may have taken some of the zip off his fastball but he’s still got enough juice in his arm to remain a QB1. Good news for Brees owners.
Crazy stat about Adrian Peterson – he’s only won two rushing titles. Go figure.
Hold on, another kicker just got cut.
That’s what we call a heat check, Tyrod Taylor. Now let’s see how you respond to it.
I’m not sitting in on any of their meetings but I’m fairly certain the Raiders aren’t even trying to defend opposing tight ends at this point.
I have six words for the Pittsburgh Steelers this week – More Bubble Screens For Antonio Brown.
Please.
PRETTY PLEASE?
I watched Le’Veon Bell in college and I liked him. I thought he’d be a good NFL running back. But anyone who says they saw THIS coming is lying. Flat-out lying. Bell looks like a completely different running back since he’s been in the NFL.
And finally if you started Josh McCown, Doug Martin, C.J. Spiller, Tavon Austin, Cecil Shorts, Kenny Stills and C.J. Fiedorowicz this week I hope you enjoyed your Sunday because all of the stocks in your 401K just crashed so you have no future. But hey, at least Sunday was fun right?

Jimmy Graham begs to differ.

Re: Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
I certainly wanted no part of Roddy this year, but only can wish I felt the same way about Andre Johnson. Good Lord. Back to back gooseggs??!
How does the Colts GM keep his job??
So you get ALuck dropped in your lap, then you basically surround him with garbage for an offensive line, give up a #1 for TRich as your franchise RB, and give Andre Johnson a guaranteed $10MM. At least he's really built up that D...oh..

I wanted no part of Andre Johnson and Tweeted several times I thought he was being overdrafted.
I have no clue what's gone on with White. He looked real good late last season once he got healthy and I thought he was moving well in Week 1.
