Mike Santos Wins 2015 NFFC Primetime & $150,000

Congrats to Mike Santos of Tulare, California and his partner Kurt Kuekes for winning the 2015 NFFC Primetime title, along with the $150,000 grand prize. Mike and Kurt set a Primetime Championship Round record with 740.39 points, smashing the old record of 717.57 points set last year by John Pausma. And they needed every single point as they edged Ream & Val Lazaro by just 10.55 points for the Primetime grand prize.

It was a wild run to the title for the Coyote Miscreants III. This team finished 3rd in the Primetime Online Sept. 4th 6 pm League with 1,916.6 points. That ranked 67th among the 124 Primetime Championship Round teams. But this team got hot at the right time, scoring 177.30 points in Week 14 (8th best), 228.35 points in Week 15 (3rd best) and 206.0 in Week 16 (2nd best). This team entered Week 16 in second place, 3.88 points behind Derek Anderson's team, but moved to the top on Sunday and held off several competitors for the title.

Mike and Kurt first joined the NFFC in 2011 after the demise of the WCOFF and drafted Online the first three years. They stepped up their participation in the NFFC in 2013 and drafted live with us for the first time in 2014. This year they went heavy into the Primetime and the private high-dollar leagues with the goal of taking down at least one big prize. They certainly did that, taking down the biggest grand prize we offer in the NFFC. Just a great, great job guys.

Let's also extend our kudos to the husband-wife tag team of Ream & Val Lazaro, who share this team with Ream's father Lee Lazaro. They drafted in the Primetime Online on Sept. 10th and were in position to win the grand prize on Monday Night. They had Emmanuel Sanders going while Santos' team was done. After Sanders scored the third quarter touchdown, they pulled within 10.55 points, but Sanders didn't get another catch the rest of the way even though that game went into overtime. In fact, he limped off the field late in the fourth quarter when a touchdown reception could have changed the course of our final standings. Pretty exciting finish guys. Ream has drafted in Las Vegas before, but work has gotten in the way of that the last three years. Hopefully we can get Ream & Val back out to Vegas next season.
