Is There Any Interest In A $5K NFFC League?
Okay, as long as I'm seeking feedback, let's try one more. I had no interest in proposing a higher high-end contest until a few of our dedicated NFBC guys posted a thread on our baseball Message Boards seeking input on a league with a $5,000 entry fee. Well, within a few weeks we have accumulated 14 guys who say they will play in a $5K league, one we're now calling NFBC Ultimate. That 15-team league will have a $40,000 first place prize.
I'm just throwing this out there to see if there's any interest from our current players, but would anyone like to see a $5K entry fee league in the NFFC for 2005 that could pay off $35,000-$37,500 for first place? It would be 13 weeks of h2h and we'd pay $5,000 to the h2h champion and $5,000 to the total points leader (could be to same team). Top two teams would earn first-round playoff byes and the next four highest scoring teams would earn playoff spots. H2H for last three weeks (14 through 16) and we pay off top three finishers. Not sure yet about the exact payouts, but we'll figure it out soon enough.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a winner. You can count me in.
Speaking of which...
Greg, in the spirit of "Gordon Gekko," you can mark "King of Queens" as "either format (draft or auction)" for the NFBC Ultimate on the appropriate baseball thread.

All of the leagues (Draft Masters, Auction, Main Event) for both football and baseball are at 75%-85% payout. I believe the NFBC Ultimate is proposing an 83.33% payout. In raw dollars, that's a nice take for the house. My question is: would you be able to find this level of "action" elsewhere?

Probably not, but I can go drop $5k on a football game this weekend if I felt like it. It's not the level of action that's interesting as much as it is the potential for profit. I'm not playing a league of this cash level for anything other than expected return of investment potential Who else joins is also a factor for my consideration... lol

1) Dyv, these are 14-team leagues.
2) I haven't even announced what the prize payout structure would be and you've thrown cold water on a new idea. All I announced was the goal for first place.
3) The payout plan for the NFBC Ultimate is 83.33% before expenses, so it's not 75-25 like I have for the main event.
4) You know I pay licensing on these games, and you and I have already had this conversation about that, so your math of us taking all of the leftovers is wrong. Adding this league doesn't leave all the vig for KP, as you know. In fact, not even close.
5) Will we do a phone hookup with additional meeting room space in New York and Las Vegas? Will it cost more from STATS? Will we need our personnel to stay in each city another day? I don't know as I'm not even sure we'll have this league. I was just looking for input and then I'd see what we could do and tally up the expenses.
Man, for a guy who just won $5,000, you are cranky today. Zero responses since your post. Nice.
Again, I'm just looking for feedback on interest from our current players. Nothing more and we'll figure out the rest if there's interest. If there's not, no problem on my part.

You can count Lumpy's Losers in on an NFFC Ultimate!!!!
Would even be willing to challenge the Best of the Best and limit to only owners from this years Final 32. At that high stakes I would only be hesitant if I did not know the organizers, but Greg and Tom have done a wonderful job.

greg - at this point i have interest only, no committment. we have plenty of time until next year, so don't let dyv get you down.
couple questions...
1. is this an auction or a draft?
2. is the H2H structure for week 14-16 set in stone? is there a chance for the top 4 teams (top 2 records & top 2 pts) to make the playoffs and run total pts for weeks 14-16?
obviously, i'd have to see the final payout schedule before making a decision
