Starting a bye week player: could be the proper move
Some times the strategically correct thing to do is to start a player on the bye week.
For example a team may have a less than a 1 point lead going into Monday night with an active player left in their line-up that is a NFL back-up (Blaylock of LJ for tonight.) They may also have a R. Lee type on their bench with the bye. If I were this owner I would put Lee in my line-up not risking the NFL back-up coming in and potentially fumbling on his only play of the week. See the damage D. Terrell did with his –2.5 performance in week two. Negatives are unlikely, but they are still a possibility. Sure chastise the moron that left Burnell on his bench this week and played a bye week QB, but you cannot remove someone’s ability, or penalize them for exercising it, when it may in fact be the proper move in rare circumstances.

NN  Y...are you REALLY Brett Favre posing under another name? You've made some "interesting" observations, but this one takes the prize. You have outdone yourself on this one. See a doctor ASAP.

Starting a bye week player: could be the proper move
Hmm, a post with good thinking by nnoy? I guess everybody can have a lucid moment every once in awhile.
Actually, the strategy proposed needs 1 more caveat. The owner has to be well placed h2h and far back in the points race. Since total points can get you into the playoffs, giving up any potential points has a lot of downside.
There is another case when starting a bye might be done purposefully. If you're in a heavy injury or multi bye situation, you may not want to drop a player for a 3 point TE or maybe even a 5 point K. Again, an unlikely scenario, but possible.
As for giving up, pride and reputation would never let me do that. At 2-2 in the Main Event and well back in the points race I'm a dead man walking. I'll be fighting every week, however.

I have another idea. Why not drop Priest Holmes in the event that he may get hurt down the road?

By dropping Bettis in Week #2 and Zereoue last week when you needed a 2nd RB, can you please give me the strategy on that?
Seems to me like you already gave up!

Starting a bye week player: could be the proper move
This is a funny thread! Reminds of some guy I knew that drafted two good qbs early, hoping one would get hurt when he reached the playoffs. Then, to make matters worse, he started the wrong one every week.
Seriously, though. It could make sense given very specific cirsumstances, but I don't think any of those applied here.

Wow, Liquid, you know how to hurt a guy.
Bettis was dropped because at an average of 5 yards a game he can't possibly be a starter. The possibility of a zero against the 25% chance of a score means I'd never put him in anyway.
The Zereoue situation makes me sick. I had Glenn on a bye and Branch OUT. My emergency starter was this Karl Williams dude but he went out the end of the last game with a bad shoulder and was just Probable for the game. My 2nd TE was also on a bye as well as Moe Williams. So if Williams couldn't play, I'd get 3 or 4 at the most from Griffith. Furthermore, at 1-2 this week, I was in a must win situation.
So I very, very reluctantly dropped Zereoue for a WR. I'm not sure Z is the man if Fargas is healthy, but I'd much rather have him on my roster, of course. The good news was I got 7.6 points from the dude I picked up and won the game. The bad news, well....
So, I'll just have to keep scrapping and hope I get bigger games from Holt and Harrison.

On the note of Z, if we all saw Gordan, Blaylock and Leonard go for HUGE FA$ when none had any in season successes at this point, anyone want to take a gander at what Z may command...I believe this is a thread begging your comment Gekk...

I might have caught a break at last. Bennett has a new knee injury. If O gets suspended, Moe becomes a good starter for me.
