NFFC Poker Tournament
Rejoice! A poker tournament for NFFC entrants and friends. If you are interested please post an email address here and you will get an email with more information, but here are
THE BASICS
NL Hold 'Em Tournament
$250 buyin (no rebuys)
Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino
Saturday, September 4
7:00 PM
This will be a first class event, run by some of the staff from WSOP. There will be photos and some appearances by local Poker Pros.
In addition, we have special rates for the hotel, $79.99 weekdays (if you are arriving Thursday or earlier) and $99.99 on weekends (incl Monday 9/6).
You must check in by Friday to get this special weekend rate. This will be posted on a separate thread (you do not have to be in the Poker Tournament to get the special rate, but you must register through our staff)- just thought I would give you all the good news at once.

Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

Three questions:
1. Are there any other costs?
2. Is the house taking a cut?
3. If so how much?
P.S. I'll pass on posting my e-mail.

Walla Walla, if you don't want to play, no problem. Yes, there are a LOT of costs involved in running any tournament, especially on short notice, but Greg thought it would be a big plus to have it available for NFFC.
To put it in poker terms the entry is 200+50.
Normally we could do better, but this is short notice and they had to bump someone else to give us the space.

Hook,
Is there a minimum # of players you need to make the tournament a go? Thanks for setting everything up. Class act!

$50 rake is pretty high... 20% rake? That seems about double what it should be?

Dyv - it's not a rake as in a normal tournament. Think about what it would cost to allot us the floor space on a Saturday night, have enough staff to run the tournament, handle the money and payouts, add extra dealers, etc. etc. And all of this on short notice at a busy hotel.
Gekko - I don't really know the answer to that and hoping I don't have to ask them. I know this is a smaller event, but since the poker doesn't conflict with anything at NFFC, I was hoping to get at least 5 tables = 50 players. There is a similar event a week later at WCOFF that does conflict and we are already pushing 100 players.

This isn't the Golden Nugget that Steve Winn owned. Short notice? Come on! They have plenty of tables. Most are low cost buy-in's because there's no high rollers going downtown these days. Dyv hit it on the mark. 20% is unheard of.
I'll pass. As far as the cheap hotel rooms from downtown. Remember what I posted awhile back. Waiting for a taxi and paying for it will kill your weekend. Stay at the pink bird.
