The QBs They Are A Changin

Post by Tom Kessenich » Thu Jun 10, 2004 6:27 am

In the last few weeks, we've seen a host of QB moves. From Kerry Collins coming to Oakland, to Kurt Warner going to the Giants and Vinny Testaverde moving to Dallas, each of these QBs has found a new home and possibly some new fantasy value in the process.

So I'm throwing this out there for everyone to discuss - what do you think about these moves? Have any of these guys seen a spike in value; are all three best left ignored; will any of the help their teams in any meaningful way this season?

It's all fair game, so if you want to talk about some of the latest QB movement, have at it.

I'm clearly going to target Collins in my draft, probably round 3 or round 4. He's going to be the centerpiece of that offense. Watch out for who becomes Collins' favorite target, he's going to be a good WR sleeper.

Collins is tough and a prototypical Raider.

Hi Tom,

First let me say hello - I just registered yesterday and I'm looking forward to joining all of you this season and atthe draft in Chicago on 9/4/04.

All three of the QBs mentioned haven't even won starting spots yet, and if they do are bound to struggle in their respective new offense. Each may have their "flash in the pan" but schooled fans know it takes a while to get comfortable in a new offense, new O Line (poor Kurt) and new receivers.

I think they should be ignored as a #1 QB, perhaps a #2 on a fantasy team - but one can do a lot better than either of those three for a #2 - unless they wait to the really late rounds and one is available.

What do you think?

I agreee, they don't have a starting spot. Plus, they will be under the dreaded "QB contoversy" at the start of training camp. If you don like these QBs, you will need to handcuff the current starting QB (or backup depending the teams situation). It would be interesting.

Hey John, welcome to the event. I'm sure you're going to have a great time in Chicago. I ran the Chicago portion of the NFBC and everyone had a blast. I'll be in NY this time around, so I'm looking forward to seeing all the East Coast action.

As far as these QBs go, I think it's going to be interesting to see how things shake out. Warner should be the Week 1 starter, but can he really stay healthy? Testaverde looks like a backup, but is Quincy Carter good enough to keep Parcells from getting twitchy and looking for another option? Collins fits Norv Turner's system, but Gannon's still there for now and if he isn't released, that situation may continue into the season.

It should be interesting to see how these situations unfold during camp.
