Are you still having any fun??

I ask this in all seriousness because after five years of the NFFC, it's important to keep our contest fresh and enjoyable. I like to compare the NFFC to a local fantasy football league because we have the same ups and downs as any local league. After five years, we kind of know each other pretty well and like any local league we have:
** Owners who do well consistently and win a lot of money.
** Owners who are the villains.
** Owners who struggle from time to time but earn money regularly.
** Owners who only play for the money and are unbearable when they don't cash every year.
** Owners who just love the comraderie of draft day and will continue to come back every year.
Because of all this and because of the bad economy, it almost feels like there's more stress in the NFFC this year than any other year. I'm sure it's all part of the growing pains of any contest, but it's worth noting because like any local league it needs to be addressed. Tom and I want to make the NFFC as enjoyable as possible and we look forward to paying out over $750,000 in prizes this year, but is that still enough??
It's impossible to keep everyone happy in the NFFC and enough stuff happened in the NFL this year (injuries, the hurricane, a canceled game, etc.) to give people reason to doubt this crazy hobby. You need skill and some luck to win at fantasy football and that was certainly proven this year.
But at the end of the day, hopefully you also had some fun on Draft Day, some fun in your leagues, and you enjoyed the competition. It's not all about the money, although that's what we're all chasing. Hopefully there's still some love of the intense competition, the comraderie that the NFFC brings and the thrill of victory when it happens. So many of you have won at fantasy football in the past that you probably can't believe it when you don't cash in the NFFC. But trust me, if you win money here, you've really done something because this is truly the best of the best.
Sorry for the rant, but it's been an interesting year to say the least and I've already received some e-mails from folks who just missed a money spot and admittedly are wondering if the NFFC is in their future. That's understandable. But hopefully along the way you had some fun and you enjoyed the competition. And maybe, just maybe, you'll want to do it again.
Good luck everyone in the playoffs and in the consolation round and may all your players stay healthy for the stretch run!!
