_______ TIME TO OUTLAW PRE-SEASON GAMES _____

Post by D-Day Heroes » Sun Aug 27, 2006 4:52 am

________ Where Do I Begin..... 1st.... This is not our " Fathers Football " any more, when players like Jim Brown and Dick Butkus, use to take on summer jobs to supplement their income. They needed preseason to get in shape and learn the playbook, THATS NOT TRUE ANYMORE. These Multimillion Dollar Primadonnas have, personal trainers, personal nutritionist, personal tutors, camp this and camp that, all they do is live , eat and breath Football. THEY ARE ALWAYS READY TO GO. Which is why your seeing more and more of these preseason " Ghost Injuries " that disappear come week one. ALL-PROS and Grade-1 Starters do not want to play in preseason anymore, nor should they.... AND THIS IS THE MAIN REASON WHY........ You have all these " Bubble Players " who are literally willing to knock an elite opponent out of commission, in order to make the Team. Can't blame him, he is fighting for a JOB, a career, his Dream come true. While the ALL-PROS are just trying help the Rookies develop some chemistry. So What Happens..... You have some # 54 man on the roster, trying to make the last cut at line backer, make a dive tackle at Shaun Alexander, Peyton Manning, or Chad Johnson....Blow out the All-Pros Knee and knock him out of the whole regular season in the last game of pre-season, FOR WHAT....? Basically Nothing, because BOTH TEAMS ARE STILL....0-0...!!....Enough is Enough. If the OWNERS are that hard up for Money....MAKE THE GAMES COUNT or here's a novel idea..... DON"T PLAY ANY 1st Stringers in pre-season. That's my___ Sunday Morning Rant___.....Thanks for listening....all comments are welcome..!!

D-Day. I couldn't agree more. I think they should bump the regular season schedule up to 18 games and have just two pre season games. When I see someone like Greg Jones go down last night I can't help but think these games are a waste of time and energy. I realize Jones is not an all-pro but he certainly would have been (and still could be) a good late round pick.
