Arian Foster: Will He Be Ready For Week 1?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Aug 19, 2013 6:08 pm

Are you at all concerned about Arian Foster's back after head coach Gary Kubiak said yesterday that Foster might not be ready for Week 1?

NFFC owners got a little scared by that news as he just fell to 12th overall in the first online draft since that news. We have several drafts tonight and will gladly update his draft status. Very interesting.

I think Ben Tate owners could be smiling right now. I think Texans are worried and so should his fantasy owners.

RB Curse of 370 or Myth?
This has been around nearly a decade. Do you believe in it - a little, a lot? Or just an old-wive's tale that's more due to random injury bad luck than workload?

I believe the "curse" refers only to regular season carries, but I've also seen some who consider a 390 barrier when including post-season. And even though receptions don't necessarily take the same pounding as carries up the middle, they may not be that different from outside carries.

Whether we believe in the curse or not, RBs don't last forever, so it's probably good to know which have had a lot of recent tread burnt.

Last year's RBs near or with more than 370 regular season + post-season touches:
Foster: 391 + 69 = 460 :o [Helloooo, Mr. Tate? :geek: ]
Peterson: 388 [Toby Time?]
Lynch: 338 + 40 = 378
Martin: 368

The two Rotowire drafts I've done so far Nelson Sousa took Tate in the 8th of both. He must of had some good info on this one!!

Tate's NFFC ADP = 95.65. IOW, in a 12-team draft, the last pick of round 8. I suspect his ADP the past week or two has been higher though.

Foster went 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 12th last night in drafts that we were watching. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues. Tate is going mid 7th round in most drafts and I've seen late 6th. It will be interesting to see tonight if those trends continue.

In two other drafts last night Foster went 12th and 15th. So in eight drafts last night Foster's ADP was 9.5. That's a pretty sharp drop.

It's all noise. Your getting a potential No. 1 player late in the 1st? Feel like it'd be stupid to watch him drop.

I think Foster gets nowhere near the carries this year as were use to seeing him get. I hate I missed out on Tate I think he could be very valuable for his owners.

We're going to be talking a lot about Arian Foster tonight on the STATS Fantasy Advantage so if you have some strong thoughts about Foster post them here and we may grab some to discuss on the air tonight. :)
