Adrian Peterson Will NOT Be Available In FAAB
Re: Adrian Peterson Will NOT Be Available In FAAB
I am pretty sure, if news comes out next week or whenever, that AP is definitely suspended for the season with no appeal, this situation might change. But for now, I believe this is the right decision. There is positive and negative on both sides and I can see both arguments. Either way, if someone is dumb enough to drop him at this point, without more information, then there needs to be a precaution and this is the best decision, in a very unique situation.
Re: Adrian Peterson Will NOT Be Available In FAAB
Can't the same be said for Asiata and Donald Brown ...someone will speculate on them with a lot of money, too. Deciding how much to pay and managing finite dollars is a PRIMARY skill in acquiring players through FAAB. I would bid more for Asiata/Brown than I would AP, so I don't understand the distinction.silas dain wrote: To me, having him in the pool available for bidding is pure luck and speculation, not much skill involved at all. It would penalize guys that drafted for depth and someone gets lucky cause they took a chance and bid a bunch of $$ on one guy? seems like the right thing to do to me.
In the past, players taken out of the pool were those who clearly should not have been dropped in the first place because they had significant value. No one knows what AP is worth so he does not fall under that umbrella. What a guy was worth two weeks ago under entirely different circumstances should have zero bearing on the decision. This sets a bad precedent IMO. I care less about Peterson than the precedent, since I would not be bidding enough to get him and if someone in my league wants to go all in to get him that is their choice and they will appropriately live with the consequences, good or bad. This falls under the coddling label for me - making the game easier for people who don't want to make tough decisions, it is not a luck versus skill question.

You don't make decisions based on what the circumstances may be in a few weeks. I agree with KJ, this is a bad decision by NFFC. This wasn't a tough decision it was a decision based on fear, IMO. Funny how two prominent national contests come up with two different decisions.

I have to disagree here. Nothing changes with this decision. The team that drafted him either has him or doesn't. No one else would get him if he were playing anyhow. It's no different than a season long injury. I agree with the decision of the NFFC.kjduke wrote:... so if he comes back quickly, it will be harder to win leagues where he wasn't dropped. If he doesn't come back, those leagues will be easier to win. Makes the contest uneven league to league. The Franchise wrote:Not trying to argue, but as far as him being rostered on some teams....... Well yeah he will be on the teams that drafted him in the 1st roundkjduke wrote:I've argued this before, and pulling a player out of the pool is being aggressive, not conservative. Conservative is let the league play out.
As for the level playing field argument, I disagree with that too. Keeping him out of the waiver pool means that he will be rostered in some leagues (where not dropped), and not rostered in other leagues. That creates an uneven playing field from league to league, not a level one. A level playing field would mean Peterson is on someone's roster in each league rather than in purgatory in some and rostered in others.

Did anyone have a league where he was dropped? I find it hard to believe someone would cut bait this quickly with too much $$ invested. He didn't get dropped in my Primetime.

I agree with the NFFC decision.

Don't have AP on any teams but disagree on the decision. He should be available to all. Should not make up the rules as we go along. He hasn't been officially suspended by the league. There is no set date for his return. His lawyer can work a plea deal for counseling and be done in less than a month. Say all the right things and he will be playing by week 8. The risk should be available for all to take if they want just like every other player out there. Nobody knows what the "#3 overall player" is worth. Would you do this if he was in a car crash and in a coma for 2 weeks. Everyone would drop him. He could be back by week nine as long as he wakes up and a doctor says ok. I know it is a stupid example but just trying to say we know he will be out short term but don't know long term. This is more about the image of the NFL than AP disciplining his kids or we would not be all over the place with this.

I disagree with the decision. The uncertainty of his future makes it a gamble on the owners to drop him, and a gamble on anyone who may want to pick him up. It seems like these are special circumstances with a "potential" situation. Players have been taken out of the player pool in the past, but not for this type of reasoning. JMO

Adrian Peterson was not dropped in a single NFFC Classic, Primetime or Auction league last night. However, he was dropped in four Online Championship leagues and 2 Satellite Leagues. Out of 182 leagues with a $100,000 grand prize on the line, he was dropped four times in the Online Championship. He will be removed from the free agent pool in those four leagues plus the Satellite Leagues. Good luck all the rest of the way.

Good call. Dropping AP at this point is a crazy hasty decision, maybe they were team Radisson, team Pelosi, team Bud, and team Astia's Mom? NFL's decision making is dependent on how the wind blows and if it blows a certain way he'll be back in a few weeks potentially and putting him on a team that has the most $$ left over is silly.Greg Ambrosius wrote:Adrian Peterson was not dropped in a single NFFC Classic, Primetime, Auction or Satellite league last night.
