Ryan is Colonel Jessup and he ordered the "code red"!
If Todd and Seth (they would be the guys on trial in the movie), didn't know better enough than to "do the right thing" (was Spike Lee there too?? )
Well Ryan, sometimes you need to CHANGE the plan when IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!! The rule OBVIOUSLY needs to be changed, and I can't believe management thought this was the "right thing to do".

ryan , first of all thank you for putting your imput in this.
i would like to know how they went off the adp for def and kicker in the 9th and 10th round then go back on adp after that. there were plenty of wr at that point to field a team and make it fair. the answer of them having a legal lineup was used and they DID NOT have a legal lineup. i just dont understand not having a contact number for a call in guy.

Maybe Todd didn't realize that WR is the ONLY position in a valid starting lineup where you HAVE TO start THREE players??? (sarcasm)
I can understand after 10 picks you would want a valid lineup (including D and K, although they are obvious reaches there), but in the next 9 picks, you are telling me that Todd only had enough common sense to take ONE more WR????? (knowing he took AT LEAST two guys who wouldn't be playing for 6+ weeks!! )
If that is the case Ryan, then your personnel was SEVERELY lacking in Boston (Chicago's personnel was great! )
I know Todd is a "baseball guy", but he has played this game before (NFFC), and should have more common sense than this.
I'm sorry if this is coming of as "rude" to Todd, but this is simply baffling to me.

lol...no, if Seth/Todd had used common sense and not drafted players on IR and this occurred in another venue and that venue's facilitators DID draft players on IR; you would have had only the 2nd venue making a ridiculously bad decision.
Two stupid decisions does NOT equal a good decision.
Wow....this explanation attempting to justify why Todd/Seth made the "correct" decision is almost as ridiculous as the outcome of their decision.

My Take On Boston And No-Show Owners
I don't believe the rule needs to be changed. What we need to do is further clarify the rule with regard to how players on IR will be handled. That is something we can do and will do. But we need to have a rule in place which allows us to have direction should an owner not appear. We have had this rule in place every year of the event dating back to 2004 and as Greg and others have said, this is not the first time we've had to go off rankings, Top 300 etc. in order to draft for a missing owner.
Unfortunately, it probably won't be the last time an owner doesn't show up for one reason or another. As hard as we work to get everyone in the draft on time the fact is sometimes people don't show up no matter if they have paid $1,400, $850, $350 or whatever the entry fee may be. So we need to have a rule in place to handle that situation and we have had one in place since this event (and the NFBC) originated. But as is the case with all of our rules, we will work to strengthen them going forward should the need arise. Glenn referred to the double touchdown scenario from last season and that is an example of a rule we revised for this season.
It's unfortunate this happened but in my honest opinion this should not detract from the league or the event and it would be even more unfortunate if anyone felt that way. No matter how much we all love Draft Day, the fact is it's just one day out of the season and it's merely the beginning of the season. There is a lot of football left to played. One day and one week is not going to determine who rises or falls in this or any other league, be it in the NFFC or any other league in the world. There are 13 weeks in our regular season and 16 weeks to decide who will win the $100,000. That's 3-4 months of football that needs to be played before any outcomes are decided.
If Erick is committed to this league as he has promised then everyone in it will have to work their behinds off in order to win the title and/or advance to the playoffs. So hopefully we can all move on, put this incident behind us and focus on what should be an exciting football season.

The rule as explained was to fill in a legal lineup first. The D and then K were selected once the skill positions, including flex, were filled. FWIW, when we got to this point, I actually suggested we stay with the ADP and we would make sure the team had a D and K with the last 2 picks if necessary, but the overwhelming sentiment was to fill in the starting lineup first.
So at this point, we went to highest D on the ADP and then highest K on the ADP before returning to the highest player. So WE DID NOT stray from the ADP.
This was the only subjective decision I felt comfortable making. The rest were by the rules. And while it is really easy to suggest otherwise, in a situation like this, rules trump common sense.
That said, like I said before, I feel terrible for not having the sense to call Greg.
Also....
I want to say that to a man, the 13 Boston teams were not at all happy they were caught up in this. There has been some suggestion otherwise and it simply is not true. They were outwardly concerned for both the interleague competition as well as the overall. And yes, this makes the fact we did not call Greg an even more egregious omission.

No, we did not go off the ADP. The instructions were to fill his legal starting lineup first, before picking reserves. That is what we did. He got the highest ranked defense and kicker, then we went back to the top of the list.
And while he may not have a lineup filled with active players, he has a legal lineup with regards to players filling the requisite positions.
I'll let Fanball handle all further commenting, but will address anything via PM. [/QUOTE]1. Have you ever played FF before?
2. Have you kept up with players this off season?
3. Drafting 4 Wr's?
4. Drafting 4 QB's?
5. Drafting 6 RB's?
My guess is because of 3-5 is that IF you have played you have not done very well.

John, Seth and I spoke shortly before the draft. I told Seth to keep trying to get in touch with Erick and use the Top 300 list until he arrived per our rules.
