Congratulations to the winner...I heard he already said what the plans for the $1,000,000 are - half to IRS and the other half to the wife!
Just kidding, but wow, that must feel awesome!

Is FFOC good or bad for FF players?
2009
NEW! TIER 1 ($75 per team): The team must win its league to qualify for the Las Vegas Bracket.
NEW! TIER 2 ($125 per team): The team must finish 1st or 2nd in its league to qualify for the Las Vegas Bracket.
NEW! TIER 3 ($275 per team): The team must finish 1st through 6th in its league to qualify for the Las Vegas Bracket.
So you pay more and have a better chance. Not sure how that will go over? Not a fair playing field if you ask me. Why would you not enter Tier 3?
They came up with a idea, lost money and now there getting away from there plan. Again not sure how long this contest will be around?

And no money for winning your league.
Odd choices.
And some of the mill is paid out as an annuity.
Took a couple steps back it sounds like.

John Aren't there only 10 teams in each league???
If so, in the highest paid division, SIXTY PERCENT of the players in each league make the Las Vegas bracket (playoffs)??
Wow, this is comparable to my daughter coming home with a "participation" ribbon on Elementary School field day!
Everyone's a winner!!
On a side note, I am AGAINST the NFFC/NBC allowing 3 guaranteed teams in the playoffs (if you couldn't tell! )

Thanks.....I'll play the lottery!
VERY poor move on the FFOC's part IMO!
I agree 100% with Dennis....definitely took a step back here!

The multiple tiers will prove fatal for the FFOC. It may go over OK with some of this year's players, but the price structure is too confusing for the large number of newbies that this high volume league needs to draw in order to survive.
They are reacting to the economy just like everyone else. It's a shame. I loved their original concept. It would have succeeded a few years ago and may succeed a few years from now. Unfortunately, 2008 was not the year to launch a new game with a concept that requires thousands of players in order to survive.
I finished 2nd in my FFOC league (to a team by the name "Diesel"), won a free league, and will play with my free team this year. I hope I am wrong about their stability, but I wouldn't invest any of my own money at this point.

Bill, Billy and Dennis,
I was going to do just two teams, now I'm out. This contest would have worked and would have worked this year. 125.00 a team, most would have paid that in hopes of winning the Million. Great plan gone bad. They started up so late last year, I know they would not come close to there numbers. This year I was guessing 20,000 teams.
Now there also offering money back if you bring someone on.
Not looking good.
By the way, I like 3 teams getting in.
John
PS. When I saw "Diesel" finished 2nd, I was like WOW nice job Marc, I guess not.

Took a couple steps back it sounds like. There still are league prizes, SA and Waz.
I haven't thought much about this yet, just skimmed the email for my free teams, but it strikes me as an interesting marketing tactic.
They are trying to reach the mass market - players that want a longshot at big money and casual-or-so FF players, which is a much larger market than the hard-core dedicated competitive players that are in the NFFC and WCOFF. Winning this contest won't be about crowning the best FF player, it will be about handing a really big check to one really lucky guy that is at least a competent FF player. Different game than here, but I suspect the FF market is diverse enough for both types of games.
The 10yr annuity structure after an initial $300k takes the value of the $1 million down to about $800k.
